Parking is available at the 'Le Jas du Mas' lodge and inn.
(S/E) To start, go back along the tarmac road that led to the lodge and immediately turn right onto the dirt track heading south-west. Continue to Jas du Mas (which gave its name to the accommodation located closer to the road), then onto the path that continues into the field.
(1) The path veers to the left and leads to a wooden gate. Follow the path downhill.
(2) Halfway down the slope, turn right towards Prabouré. Then turn right onto the tarmac road until you reach a path that branches off to the left over a stone bridge (3).
(3) After crossing the stream, take the path opposite, which climbs quite steeply for a few dozen metres. From this point onwards, you can follow the "VTT" (green arrow) markings. Follow the path to a fork.
(4) Take the path on the right that climbs uphill and then follow it to the left. A little further on, you will see the ski lifts higher up on the right. Head towards the ski lift departure point.
(5) On your left, take a tarmac road for about 200 metres, then a wide path that climbs to the right and leads to a clearing and houses on the left.
(6) Ignore the two paths on the right and take the tarmac road opposite, slightly to the right, which climbs uphill. This road quickly gives way to a path which you follow towards Les Jasseries de la Fayolle, making a wide "Z" and ignoring all the paths on the left and the first one on the right.
(7) When you reach the Shepherd's Hut (small yellow sign high up on a post on the right), turn right onto the path that climbs up into the field, then veers right again and continues to the left of the houses. Follow the path on the right that descends along the edge of the fence of the field below. Turn right to follow the fence.
(8) Turn left onto the path running parallel to the edge of the woods.
From here, it becomes a little difficult as there are no markings and the paths are poorly marked; it is easy to stray from the route through fields that may be marshy (depending on the season). Follow the path, continuing northwards.
When you see a mountain bike sign (red arrow), follow it in the opposite direction to the arrows. You can also follow the "Sentier du colporteur" signs. The path climbs up into an open area.
(9) Then it turns left (signposted "Sentier du colporteur"), runs alongside a copse on the right, descends and becomes a narrow path.
(10) At a fork, take the right-hand path (north-north-west). Ford a stream.
(11) Continue straight ahead (north-east). The path winds downhill and runs alongside a wood on the right.
(12) At the T-junction, turn right towards Les Jassoux.
(13) At the next junction, continue straight ahead. Turn right at the next junction (elevation 1246) then right again (elevation 1227).
(14) Cross a footbridge and climb back up towards the road, following the green/white markings that will take you back to your starting point (S/E).
