Description of the walk

Park your car in the LPO car park. Access: 3.8 km from the village of Lérigneux, on the D113 towards the Col de Baracuchet.

(S/E) Cross the D113 and take the path leading down to Dovézy. After 200 m, take a path on the right which leads to a small car park alongside the D113. Cross the D113 and take the path leading down to the first house.

(1) Turn left onto the Chemin de la Plaine. Before reaching the D113, turn right onto the Chemin du Moulin.

(2) At the entrance gate to property no. 67, take the path that leads down towards the river and runs alongside an old lock and the remains of a flour mill. Cross the River Cotayet to reach the hamlet of Le Fay. Enjoy the view over the village of Lérigneux and the Forez plain.

(3) Go round the hamlet of Le Fay by taking the path immediately on the right. Turn left and, after about 50 m, turn right at the corner of the farm building. Continue along the path.

(4) At thefirst crossroads, turn left and head downhill to the hamlet of Viallard. Turn right, admire the majestic sequoia on your left, and continue straight on along the tarmac path until thesecond left-hand bend.

(5) At the bend, take the path on the right towards the hamlet of Le Palais. Before thefirst house, turn left and go round the houses until you reach the tarmac road, then take the forest track on your left. (SeveralPR® trails and mountain bike tracks run alongside each other).

(6) Do not take the two paths on the left; instead, continue along the one that becomes very steep and leads out into a large clearing.

(7) After 50 m on a stony track, turn right and head down into the woods. Ignore the various paths branching off to the left or right and continue along the main track for 1 km.

(8) Turn left onto a wider path. Cross the Cotayet stream again very close to its source, and continue to the entrance to the hamlet of Dovézy.

(1) At the corner of thefirst house, turn left and follow the path you took on the way there to the LPO car park (S/E).

I went on this walk one autumn morning. There are large areas where you can soak up the sun. It’s a pleasant walk, with an easy route that’s clearly described in the app. I think I’ll go back there in the summer.

Hello
Route completed on Tuesday 16 August 2022 in fine weather, with a heat haze over the plain; very well signposted, with very few people encountered apart from a few locals.
Overall, a lovely, relatively easy walk despite a few hills, suitable for families with older children.
