S/E: From the Jasserie Garnier car park, head south-west following theGR®3.
(1) At the first three-way junction, near an information sign, turn left and continue to the next three-way junction at an altitude of 1,421 metres.
(2) Go straight ahead at the intersection, leaving the trails on your left, and continue to reach the plateau. Continue straight ahead until you reach the wide path coming from the left from the Col des Supeyres.
(3) There is a standing stone nearby. Turn right, following theGR® markings, and cross the cattle grid (which keeps livestock in while allowing traffic to pass). Follow the wide path north-west.
(4) At the bottom of a valley, continue straight ahead uphill through the pastures, still on theGR®3, leaving the Croix de Fossat on your left.
(5) Near the burons (stone huts) of La Richarde, at the intersection after crossing a barrier, climb up to the right. The chapel is accessed further up on the left. There is a 360° view of the Auvergne volcanoes, the Pilât mountains, the Lyonnais mountains and, on a clear day, the Alps.
(6) Do not go to the foot of Pierre sur Haute, but turn off a little before, on the right, near a standing stone with a marker on it.
(7) An information panel about the reserve may be of interest further along the path and is worth a quick detour. Retrace your steps.
(6) Climb over the fence, respecting the work of the shepherds. Go back down the path through the pastures of the Colleigne Nature Reserve. There are markings on the ground. Reach the outskirts of the Shepherd's Hut de Colleigne.
(8) Turn right onto a wider path and reach a fork near a statue of the Virgin Mary on a pedestal.
(9) Turn right and take the hilly path through the sparse forest to the lowest point of the hike, where you will cross the Ruisseau de Pierre Brune stream, which flows downstream to form the Chorsin waterfall.
(10) Continue south-east to reach the Goutte de l'Oule.
(11) Cross the stream, turning left to reach the fork in the path you took on the way there.
(1) Continue straight ahead to reach Jasserie Garnier (S/E).
