Around Niergnies

Park in the church car park.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, turn right onto Rue de l'Eglise, ignore the two streets on the left and the one on the right.

(1) Turn left onto Rue du Château. At the intersection with Grande Rue, turn right onto the D157, then take Rue de Niergnies. Ignore the paths on the right and the street on the left. At the intersection with Rue de Wambaix, turn left and ignore the dead-end street on the right.

(2) Turn left onto Rue de Crèvecœur. At the intersection with Chemin du Pigeonnier between houses 82 and 82B, turn right and at the next intersection, turn right. Then turn right onto Rue de Rumilly and ignore the two streets on the right.

(3) At the three-way junction with Rue de l'Abbaye de Vaucelles, turn left and ignore the two paths on the left. At the crossroads with Rue Bonavis, turn left. At the intersection with Rue de Gouzeaucourt, turn left and ignore the street and cul-de-sac on the right. At the intersection with Avenue de Paris, turn left and cross at the next pedestrian crossing.

(4) Turn right at the intersection of Sentier des Morts, between houses 124 and 126, then right. At the intersection of Chemins des Mallettes, ignore the path on the right and turn left onto Rue de Mercure.

(5) At the intersection with Rue des Gallo-Romains, turn left and then quickly right. At the roundabout, go straight ahead along Allée des Champs. At the intersection with Rue de Noyelles, continue straight ahead along Rue Ramsès, then Rue du Nil. At the intersection with Rue d'Havrincourt, turn left, then right onto Rue des Érables.

(6) Turn right onto Rue des Anémones, then left onto Rue des Marronniers. At the intersection with Rue des Coquelicots, turn right, then left onto Rue des Aubépines. At the intersection with Rue des Jonquilles, turn right, then left onto Rue des Prés and take the path to the church on the right between houses 16 and 18, passing in front of the church.

(7) Turn left onto Rue Jean Lebas, ignoring the street and the passage on your right. At the intersection with Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier, turn left, ignoring the two streets and the cul-de-sac on your right.

(8) Turn left onto the path of the Escaut Rivière Nature Reserve and continue right towards the Canal de Saint-Quentin. At Chemin de Halage, turn right, ignore the two streets on the right and continue along the path, keeping to your left.

(9) At the Cantimpré lock, turn right onto Boulevard Jean Bart and at the junction with Rue Cantimpré, turn right and cross the boulevard, ignoring the streets on the right and left. At the three-way junction with Rue des Récollets, ignore the street on the right and continue to the right. At the junction with Rue des Poissonniers, go straight ahead.

(10) At the crossroads with Rue Vanderbruch, turn left, then right onto Place de Fénelon, ignoring the three streets on the right. At the intersection with Rue Saint-Aubert, turn right. At the roundabout, ignore the street on the right and continue on the right.

(11) At the intersection with Place Aristide Briand, turn right, then right onto Mail Saint-Martin. At the roundabout, continue straight ahead. At the intersection with Rue du 11 Novembre, turn right and then left onto Rue du Beffroi.

(12) Turn right onto Rue de Noyon, then quickly left onto Rue de l'Aiguille. At the intersection with Rue du Grand Séminaire, turn left, stay on the left and ignore the street on the right.

(13) At the crossroads with Avenue de la Victoire, cross and go straight ahead along Rue Guillaume du Fay. At the crossroads with Rue Saint-Georges, turn right, ignoring the street on your right. At the intersection with Rue des Soupirs, turn left, then right into Allée des Soupirs.

(14) At the Boulevard Berlaimont roundabout, cross the two lanes on the left and take Chemin du Jardin Public, ignoring the path on the left. At the crossroads, turn right and at the intersection with Avenue Villars, continue straight ahead onto Rue de Turenne.

(15) At the Rue de Caudry crossroads, cross and turn left, ignoring the street on the right. After house no. 90, turn right onto Chemin la Coulée Verte and cross Rue de Bohain. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead, ignoring the path on the right.

(16) Turn right onto Rue du Train de Car. At the intersection with Rue Gauthier, turn left, then right onto Rue de Bretagne. At the intersection with Rue de Normandie, turn left and ignore the streets on your right and left.

(17) At the intersection with Rue d'Artois, turn right and then left onto Rue du Roussillon. At the intersection with Rue de l'Île de France, turn right. At the intersection with Rue du Béarn, continue straight ahead, ignoring the street on your left. At the intersection with Rue de Provence, go straight ahead.

(18) At the crossroads with Rue Saint-Ladre, cross and continue straight ahead on Avenue de France, ignoring the two streets on the right and the one on the left. Between houses nos. 36 and 38, take the road on the right. At Rue du Portugal, continue on the right and ignore the two short streets on the right.

At the intersection with the D960, turn right and stay on the side of the road, ignoring the path on the right. At the roundabout, keep right, cross the motorway and take Rue du Château on the right.

(19) Turn left onto Chemin Derrière les Haies. At the end of the road, turn left, ignoring the road on the left. At the crossroads with Grande Rue, turn right, ignore the two streets on the left and you will arrive at the church car park (S/E).

The route is long but not technically difficult and is not signposted. The terrain consists of asphalt, grass and stones. Wear suitable footwear.
