Around Wambaix

From Wambaix, the paths gently lead away from the village, winding their way between fields and meadows and offering wide views of the countryside. As you approach Esnes, the bell tower stands out on the horizon, a discreet guardian of the village. Further on, Lesdain reveals its quiet streets and brick facades, before the road heads towards Séranvillers-Forenville, where rural history can be read in every stone and every hedge.

The arrival in Forenville marks the last stage of this getaway, with its well-kept houses and green surroundings. Throughout the route, the Cambrésis region reveals itself in all its simplicity: the wind caressing the crops, birdsong punctuating your walk, and the changing light playing on the landscape. A walk that invites you to slow down and savour the discreet beauty of the villages and paths here.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park in front of Wambaix town hall.

(S/E) Take Rue de la Chapelle opposite. At the intersection, continue straight on Chemin du Batard Fortuné until you reach the intersection with the D960 or Route de Guise.

(1) Cross it and follow the road opposite until you reach the crossroads near Esnes.

(2) Turn right onto the grassy path, go to the intersection and continue straight ahead towards Lesdain. Pass under a power line and join the crossroads marked by a calvary.

(3) Turn right, pass under the power line again and return to the junction with the road called Voie de Séranvillers.

(4) Turn right, then after a few dozen metres turn left at a 90° angle onto Voie de Lesdain. Continue along Rue de Lesdain to enter the village of Séranvillers-Forenville. Continue to the crossroads with Grande Rue.

(5) Cross it and continue straight ahead, keeping the Cambrai-Niergnies aerodrome on your right until you reach the D960 road.

(6) Cross it carefully and take the path opposite. At the end of this path, turn right until you reach the junction with the road leading to the hamlet of Forenville.

(7) Continue along the road, leaving the hamlet on your right, and enter the village at the junction with Rue du Moulin.

(8) Keep left on this street and then turn onto Grande Rue. Follow it to the car park at Wambaix Town Hall (S/E).
