Description of the walk

Go to Neuviller-sur-Moselle and join Rue de la Manique. Continue straight ahead, leaving the C3 towards St-Remimont on your right, until you find the car park above the cemetery on your left.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, join Rue de La Manique, follow it to the right and go down Rue de l'Église, keeping to the right. At the stop sign, turn left and you will arrive at the junction with Rue de la Mairie.

(1) Turn right into this street and, at the town hall, first turn left then right to go around the school and take the path called "Les Prés de Lorey" to reach the canal.

(2) Turn left onto the GR®5F, which runs alongside the canal to lock no. 40 in Neuviller-sur-Moselle. Turn right onto the bridge over the canal, then left. After about 100 m, turn right onto the path that runs between the ponds to the bank of the Moselle (elevation 241 on the IGN map).

(3) Turn right along the wild Moselle; the path moves away from the river and continues straight ahead until it rejoins it. Continue for about 200 m to the right, then take the first path on the right, which leads back to the edge of the canal.

(4) Turn left and follow the canal south until you reach Bayon Lock No. 39.

(5) Continue along the left for about 150 m on Route de Bayon, cross it with caution and take the path on the right called "À l'Eau Salée". Follow it to lock no. 38 in Roville-devant-Bayon, passing by elevation 248.

(6) Just before the lock, cross the canal and follow Chemin de l'Écluse, then Rue du 4 Septembre 1944. Cross Avenue du Général de Gaulle with caution and continue to the crossroads near the school.

(7) Turn right onto Route de Laneuveville (GR®5F), cross the D9 with caution, and continue north on the GR®5F. After a right turn and about 100 metres, the path joins the D570 (Grande Rue).

(8) Cross the Grande Rue (D570) with caution and, following the same signs, continue straight ahead on Chemin Les Felnettes. At the end, turn left along Rue de la Mairie and you will come back to the fork in the road you came from.

(1) Turn right to join Rue du Château, which runs at the foot of the castle. At the end of this street, turn left onto Allée des Marronniers, then turn right onto Rue de l'Église, then Rue de la Manique, which will take you back to the car park (S/E).
