Around Montay

Park in front of the town hall on Rue de la Mairie.

(S/E) Head towards the church and turn right at the Chaussée Brunehaut crossroads. At the intersection with Rue de Pommereuil, turn right again, ignoring the streets on the left and right.

(1) At the three-way junction in the hamlet of Richemont, turn right, ignoring the path on the right that leads to Moulin de Paradis. At the Corbeau intersection, turn left, ignoring the paths on the right and left.

(2) Immediately after, turn right onto Rue de Hurtevent. Ignore the street on your left and at the next intersection, turn left to join Rue de Forest.

(3) Turn right, then take the first street on the left (Rue du Vieux Cimetière). Between houses 10 and 12, turn right into the pedestrian lane, then left.

(4) At the edge of the Bois l'Evêque forest, follow the path on the right (tree marked with a yellow sign). At the intersection of the path, turn right towards the Forestière de Pommereuil house and continue to the D959 crossroads. Cross with caution and take the path opposite until you reach Rue des Dragons on your right. Continue straight ahead, ignoring Rue des Ouiches on your left, until you reach the Rue de Bazuel crossroads.

(5) Turn right, then immediately left onto Petite Rue du Cateau and continue straight ahead. At the crossroads, turn left, ignore the path on the left and continue to the T-junction with Queniau.

(6) Turn right. At the three-way junction, continue on the left, cross the Ruisseau de Richemont and take the first path on the left to reach Rue de Becqueriaux.

(7) Turn right. At the intersection with the D643, cross with caution (no protected crossing) and turn left. Pass under the railway line and a few metres further on, turn right into Chemin Fanchette. Ignore the path on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the intersection with Chemin de Fesmy.

(8) Turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach the railway line.

(9) Cross the railway line, pass the waste collection centre and then the water tower, following Rue de Fesmy. Walk alongside the cemetery and continue to the junction with Rue du Marché aux Chevaux (D21).

(10) Turn left, then immediately right onto Rue Jean Jaurès. Pass the church and continue along Place Sadi Carnot.

(11) At the intersection with Place du Général de Gaulle, turn left and continue along Rue Léon Gambetta. Continue along Rue Charles Seydoux and cross the bridge over the Selle.

(12) At the end of the bridge, turn right onto Rue du Bois Monplaisir and continue to the second car park. Then climb the stairs on the left and cross another car park to reach Rue de la Gaîté.

(13) Turn right and continue straight ahead, crossing the bridge over the D643 after passing an electrical substation. Then turn right onto Rue de la Cavée to quickly reach Rue du Calvaire.

(14) Turn left, follow Rue de la Mairie and return to the start (S/E).

The route is not difficult but is not signposted. The terrain consists of earth, grass, stones and tarmac. Wear suitable footwear.
