Description of the walk

Car park opposite Grand Large Beach in Mousterlin.

Blue markings +GR® 34: White and red

(S/E) Exit the car park on the west side and take the path along the sea, which runs alongside the coastal road at the rocky point of Mousterlin (where you can regularly spot cormorants, oystercatchers and turnstones). Pass the small municipal harbour and follow the road for a few dozen metres. Turn left near the Hôtel de la Pointe. Walk along the buildings, then leave the markings and turn left, continuing north-west on the path at the top of the dune. Continue along this path overlooking Mousterlin Beach for about 1.2 km. This beach is bordered by a rockfill area designed to consolidate the dune massif. Leave the various passages on your right that lead to the parking areas.

(1) Reach the access to Kerler Beach (information sign). Descend the dune heading north, cross a small footbridge and pass the parking areas.

No signposts

Turn right at the first road, Hent Land Gwen, with a speed limit of 50km/h, pass the CCAS Bretagne holiday village and arrive at the D134, Route de Mousterlin, near a transformer on the left.

Mountain bike trail VTT15

(2) Cross carefully and take the dead-end road Toul Chaon opposite, which continues along a path to a small road, Hent Kerguill. At the barrier, ignore the mountain bike signposting to the left and turn right. Follow this road to the next T-junction.

Blue signposting

(3) Turn left twice and continue along the marsh on the small road Hent Mesclorennec, marked as a dead end. Continue along the path that leads to a barrier. At the signpost for "Cleut Rouz", turn left onto the path in the marsh towards the Cleut Rouz campsite.

(4) Opposite a tree trunk that has been turned into a bench near the signpost for "Brallac'h", turn left along the marsh until you reach the next barrier at a road. Turn right and you will come to a crossroads.

(5) Cross carefully and continue straight ahead into the Hent Cosquer cul-de-sac. Follow this small road between meadows, pass the hamlet of Cosquer and continue to the next fork.

Red markings

(6) At the signpost, turn right towards "Mousterlin, sentier côtier" (Mousterlin, coastal path) and continue to another fork.

Orange markings

(7) Turn left at the signpost for "Maner, Coat Clévarec", follow the edge of the marsh, ignoring a footbridge on the right, which you will take on the way back, and you will reach another fork.

No markings

(8) Turn left despite the blue and orange crosses andGR® markings and follow this path, which will turn right to reach a signpost for "Renouveau".

Blue markings

Follow this south-east facing path to the new fork at the signpost for "Maner, Coat Clévarec".

Blue and orange markings +GR® 34: white and red

Follow this path through the marsh and continue along the road that goes around the Renouveau Holiday Village with its very distinctive architecture.

No markings

(9) Take the access road on the right to Maner or Coat Cléver beach, ignoring the markings that continue to the left.

Orange markings

Continue along the path marked out at the top of the dune heading due west. It overlooks Cleut Rouz Beach. Continue for about 400m

Blue markings

(10) Descend to the right to enter the marsh and pine forest area. Cross several footbridges until you reach a trail junction, then turn left to reach the signpost for "Maner Coat Clévarec and Cleut Rouz".

Orange +GR® markings

(7) Follow this wide path between meadows until you reach the road leading to Cleut Rouz Beach.

No markings

(11) Cross the road over the lake, then the car park area near an old blockhouse and join the wide path at the top of the dune.

Blue and orange markings

Follow this path on the right, which overlooks Grand Large Beach. Note the large rockfill installed to protect this dune cordon, which has been weakened by the onslaught of the sea during winter storms.
At low tide, it is possible to walk along the beach. Head to the car park, which offers views stretching to Pointe de Moustelin (S/E).

Thank you for this hike, the route is easy to follow and the explanations are clear.
You can walk 8 km by going from point 7 to point 11.
Seaside in the sunshine, then marshes sheltered from the wind.
A lovely walk!

As usual, the description is approximate. We did well to find the right path. It would be helpful to specify the distances between each description.

Very beautiful hike.
A suggested correction for paragraph (2): At the barrier, ignore the mountain bike sign on the left and turn right. Follow this road until the next T-junction.

Thank you, FLOCH, for suggesting this route, which we extended a little to include a visit to Kerbader Chapel, where the chapel preservation committee was operating machinery, harvesting potatoes and reaping with a Pony tractor and a very old Brau threshing machine. No festival again this year, but to maintain the friendship between members and supporters, they dusted off the tools!

The Pointe de Mousterlin offers a variety of routes leading to the Mer Blanche on one side and the Polder de Mousterlin on the other. The routes run either along the ocean and the dunes or further inland around a marsh. The hike offers a variety of views in different natural environments. The diversity of the flora and fauna is remarkable. Birdwatchers will find many species to observe from shelters. The hike itself is very easy, with no significant elevation changes or difficulties, and the views are magnificent, especially at low tide.

This walk is best done in springtime for the paths through the marsh. The first part along the beach is nicer during high tide. You walk along the top of the dune with water on both sides. The paths through the marsh are very pleasant to walk on.
