The walk starts from the car park at Journans Town Hall.
(S/E) Head towards the centre of the village, pass the town hall and turn right onto Rue de l'Église until you reach Journans church.
Take a moment to admire the hundred-year-old lime tree at the corner of the crossroads opposite the church.
(1) Then take the wide path that climbs to the right shortly after the church. Ignore the various forest paths branching off to the right and continue climbing. The climb is quite steep but steady, and the path remains wide and in good condition.
(2) Take the wide path on the left that crosses a grazed meadow (there are passages in the fences). At the top of the meadow, follow the fence to the left until you reach an area where there is a passageway. Leave the meadow and continue down the road on the left.
(3) At a left-hand bend in the road, take a wide path on the right that passes under a power line and continues along the hillside, climbing slightly then descending, offering a beautiful view of the plain.
(4) Join theGR®59before the village of Sénissiat and take it to the left. It winds through the forest, alternating between hillsides and gentle descents. It finally becomes a road (Chemin des Rangoux) before meeting the Montée de Saint-Valérien.
(5) Turning left, you can climb a few hundred metres to the Chapelle Saint-Valérien chapel, which offers a beautiful view of the plain and the village of Journans.
Alternatively, turn right to descend Montée de Saint-Valérien and then Rue de Boisserolles.
The street becomes a small path between two houses.
(6) Take the small path downhill to the right (not shown on the map at the time of this hike), which leads to the end of Impasse des Hannetons, passing between the houses. Follow this cul-de-sac, then turn left onto Rue du Moulin to return to the starting point (S/E).
