Description of the walk

Park in the town hall car park

(S/E) With your back to the car park, cross Parc Popy heading south until you reach Rue Balloffet Dury, at the roundabout with Avenue Joseph Rosseli.

(1) Go round this roundabout using the pedestrian crossings and continue towards the Lycée Polyvalent Aiguerande along Rue Balloffet-Dury.

(2) Opposite the school, first turn right then left to cross Avenue de Verdun at the pedestrian crossing and take Chemin de l’Abbaye opposite, running alongside Collège Émile Zola, then past the football club and the cross-country track.

(3) At the three-way junction at the end of the path leading to the football club, turn right and cross the new Belleville bypass, which is currently under construction (not shown on the IGN map).

(4) Once on the dirt track, head due south, leaving the motocross track on your left, until you reach Route de Bussy, where there is a cross.

(5) Turn left into Impasse Grange Baron, then turn right at the entrance to the farm onto a dirt track which leads to the Ruisseau le Sancillon. Follow it for about 400 m.

(6) Turn left and head straight north. Cross the Mézerine via a bridge and arrive at Lac des Sablons via Chemin des Sablons.

(7) Walk along the right-hand side of the lake, initially parallel to the A6 motorway, then turn left and continue straight on until you reach the Lycée Polyvalent.

(8) Turn left to walk alongside the school, then right between the school and the Collège Émile Zola. Cross Avenue de Verdun carefully at the pedestrian crossing to reach Rue Balloffet Dury.

(2) Follow the same route back as on the way there to reach the town hall car park (S/E).

It’s a nice little walk, very easy. A bit too urban, though.

Hello, a fairly easy walk, lovely views of the Beaujolais region, a path that’s very easy to walk on in dry weather
best avoided with a pushchair after rainy weather.
A great outing for the family – don’t forget to pop into Parc Popy (which is full of flowers).
