(S) Leave the motorhome area and head left onto Route de la Margueride, then continue left onto Avenue Peyre. At the shop called Maison Benoit, take the middle lane onto Route d’Aubrac (provisions available here: bakery, butcher’s, etc.). Continue along the road, go under the railway line, then turn left immediately afterwards onto the path signposted ‘Vers Saint-Jacques’. Follow the railway line until you come to a small white path leading south-west.
(1) Turn right towards the Beauregard housing estate, then right onto Chemin de Beauregard (follow the red and white markings carefully) until you reach a pine forest.
(2) Turn left, go under the La Méridienne motorway and continue to the hamlet of La Chaze-de-Peyre.
(3) Cross the hamlet, then at Casa de Peyre, head right, then left at the crossroads. Walk to the Bastide chapel, situated in the middle of a crossroads.
(4) Head north-west at the stop sign, onto the D987, and walk along the designated hard shoulder to the village of Lasbros. (You can stock up on supplies at the grocery shop in the village centre.) Continue to the small concrete cross.
(5) Turn left.
(6) At the junction between theGR®65and theGRP® Tour du Mont Aubrac, carry on straight ahead to reach the hamlet of Les Quatre Chemins.
(7) Cross the D53 and head west on theGR®65. At the stop sign, keep going straight and walk carefully along the D987 for about 150 m, then turn left onto the small tree-lined path, which leads onto a short, well-signposted tarmac road towards Santiago de Compostela. Continue to the Ferme des Gentianes (bakery on site).
(8) Cross the D73 towards Finieyrols. Walk through the hamlet, noting that you are indeed in Aubrac, where the trees have been replaced by large boulders.
(9) Walk past a granite rock formation known as Roc des Loups and continue until you reach the village of Rieutort d’Aubrac.
(10) In front of the guesthouse (drinking water available here), turn right towards Marchastel. Walk for a long stretch across open ground. Follow and then cross the Bez stream at the D90.
(11) Head right onto the white path, which climbs gently, to reach the hamlet of Montgros and walk through it.
(12) Continue along theGR®65to the junction with the D900 at La Croix de Pierre.
(13) Turn right, walk past the cemetery and first turn right then left to continue along the small path which leads to a Stop sign in the village of Nasbinals. Cross the Route de Malbouzon to continue opposite along Rue du 19 Mars 1962. Walk on to the small metal bridge (E) to find a place to camp (possible on the left by the small bridge beside the river or a little further on to the right of the town hall).
