From Quatre Chemins to Buisson

(S) When you leave the lodge, follow the Compostela Way (GR®65) to the right (east). Cross a stream and reach an intersection.

(1) Continue straight ahead on the GR®65.

(2) At the T-junction (cross), turn right (south) onto the GRP® du Tour des Monts d'Aubrac (red and yellow markings, which you will follow until (20)).

(3) At the next junction (cross), continue straight ahead on the GRP® and ignore the paths branching off to the sides.

(4) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on the GRP® and walk alongside a wood on your left.

(5) You will come out onto a small road; follow it straight ahead. At the T-junction, turn right. You will soon reach a larger road (D53); follow it straight ahead.

(6) After a few dozen metres, take a gravel path on your left. Follow the path alongside a wood on your left.

(7) At the junction, go straight ahead, as well as at the next junction (elevation 1213). Enter the hamlet of Soulages.

(8) You will come out onto a small road; follow it to the right.

(9) Join another road, follow it to the right and leave the hamlet of La Combe on your right. Continue along the road for a long time, heading west-northwest. Enter Prinsuéjols, leave the cemetery on your right and you will come to the D73.

(10) Follow this road to the left. Leave the hamlet of Le Bouchet on your right. Further on, ignore another road on the left and you will soon reach another intersection.

(11) Then turn right onto a small road and cross a stream. Continue straight ahead and drive through the hamlet of Trémouloux.

(12) At a fork on the way out of Trémouloux, take the road on the right that goes uphill. At the next fork, continue straight ahead. This will take you to the edge of the Étang de la Baume.

(13) Turn left at an acute angle and follow the pond on your right, then the stream that flows out of it.

(14) You will come to a small road; follow it to the left.

(15) Pass in front of the Château de la Baume and continue along the road.

(16) Shortly afterwards, take a path on the right that descends to another road below (D73). Join this road and follow it to the right. Leave the access to Masseloup on your left.

(17) At the end of the left-hand bend, leave the road and take a hard-packed track on your left. At the fork shortly afterwards, bear right. Join the D73 and follow it to the left for about 100 metres.

(18) Take the first road on the right. Head south, then south-east, until you reach Gibertès.

(19) Turn left and cross the hamlet with the main road (D11). Follow the woods on your right.

(20) At the end of the woods, leave the road and take a path on the left (leave the GRP® on your right). At a three-way fork, take the most right-hand dirt track. At the next fork, keep right.

(21) After a farm building, rejoin the D11 and follow it to the left (east) towards Le Buisson. At a crossroads, continue straight ahead on the D11. Shortly afterwards and before the church, turn right to return to the car park where you started (E).

Some sections of the route are along roads with little traffic. Please take care.

You can shorten the hike by turning left in Trémouloux (12), but you will not pass by the Baume Pond.
