Description of the walk

Starting point: Olly, Illy hamlet, located between Illy and Givonne
Leave the D129 at the hairpin bend and park 50 m further on.

(S/E) Head north towards the château. Pass it and take the first path on the right, which follows the Givonne river on its right bank. Stay on the main path until you approach the Ruisseau des Dix Frères, a tributary on the right bank.

(1) Do not cross this stream but climb up to the left. Leave the path that branches off to the right and immediately crosses the Dix Frères. After the ditch that marks the boundary of the national forest, the path reaches a crossroads. Turn right and join a mountain bike trail. Continue in the same direction until you reach the Route du Bouillonnais, the former route of a railway line that linked Sedan to Bouillon.

(2) Turn right onto this forest road until you reach a pond.

(3) Take the path on the left before the pond. The path makes a double bend and then heads west to a large forest avenue.

(4) Turn left and continue for about 100 metres, keeping a close eye out for a small passage on the right that will take you off this lane.
The path is not very well marked but quickly joins a more frequently used path that runs alongside a small tributary of the Ruisseau du Pré de l'Ermitage. Follow this tributary and join the Route Forestière de l'Ermitage.

(5) Turn right and then immediately left to cross the Ruisseau du Pré de l'Ermitage near a small building on the stream. Continue on the left and ignore the path going up to the right.
Stay on level ground until you reach a fork, then descend to the left to join the Route Forestière de la Verrerie near a pond.

(6) Turn left then right to descend the forest road along the Ruisseau de la Verrerie to the ruins of the Hatrelle fortified house.

(7) Retrace your steps and take the first path on the right to rejoin the old Bouillonnais route.

(8) Turn left onto the path which, without too much elevation gain, reaches Belle Taille and theGR®®14.

(9) Descend to the right and head towards Château d'Olly, then the car park at the start (S/E).
