Park in the car park just below the Roche de Solutré. Please note that it is slightly further west than indicated on the IGN map.
(S/E) Start the hike on the wide carriage road towards the village of Solutré-Pouilly.
(1) After about 200 metres, take the concrete path that climbs to the left. Pass in front of the Archaeological Museum, then continue on the narrower path. After a very short climb, the path descends, then climbs again more steeply. Stay on the main path and ignore the smaller paths that branch off on both sides.
(2) After joining a wider path coming from the right, the route crosses meadows. Continue straight ahead, leaving the direct access to the Roche de Solutré on your left. Descend a little, then take the first path on your left. It is narrow and passes through fairly dense shrubbery in places.
(3) Turn left to climb back up towards the rock, following its north-western face.
(4) After a few hundred metres, join the main path and continue to the summit.
(5) To descend, take the main path in the opposite direction to the way you came.
(4) Stay on the main path, leaving the path you took on the way up on your left. Continue to the intersection you passed on the way up.
(2) Then turn right and follow the route in reverse to return to the car park (S/E).
