Panoramic views of the rocky outcrops and châteaux of the Mâconnais vineyards

This stage begins opposite the Roches de Solutré and Vergisson, classified as a Grand Site de France, with a panoramic view of the Jura mountain ranges and Mont Blanc. You pass through two natural areas of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest (ZNIEFF) and renowned vineyards (Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles), overlooking the châteaux of Chasselas and Vinzelles.

Description of the walk

No signposting

(S) From the D31 on leaving La Grange-du-Bois, head up the lane on the right. At the T-junction, turn left, then join the D627.

Red and white markings

(1) Follow this road to the left for 100 m, then turn left onto the path running parallel to the road. Head uphill along the edge of the woods. Walk alongside a meadow, then head uphill to the left.

(2) Under the high-voltage power line, head down to the left. Pass under this high-voltage power line again, then cross a stream and come out onto a stony track. Follow this track to the left, then walk alongside a vineyard.

(3) At the crossroads just before the D31, follow this road along a path to the right. Cross the road, then take the path running alongside this road on the left. Pass under the high-voltage power line again, then at the Fork in the road, head down to the right along a vineyard.

(4) Cross the D31 and head down opposite into the Chasselas vineyard below Mont Saint-Pierre. Come out onto a road, head down to the right, then at the signpost, turn left onto the D310 towards the cemetery.

(5) Just before the cemetery, head up to the left into the vineyard. Cross the D31 again, then take the D172 to the right. After a left-hand bend, take a stony path to the right.

(6) Walk alongside the Bois de Fée, then enter the forest. Head downhill, then come out onto a road at Château des Rontés.

(7) Take the road opposite, then turn left into the Molards housing estate. Turn right onto a grassy path, then head down the road opposite to reach a shelter.

(8) First turn left then right and head down the road towards Loché. At the Fork in the road, go left, then right, and reach Loché church.

(9) Cross the village to the left. At the Fork in the road, turn right, then cross the D89 and pass under the high-speed railway line. At the crossroads, turn right, cross the car park and reach Mâcon-Loché TGV station (E).
