Tête du Pré des Saix and Chalet de l'Airon from Plateaux des Saix

A short circular walk from the top station of the Telecabin du Grande Massif Express. A short variant is also described to take in the two lakes. Magnificent views from the Tête du Pré des Saix.
Lac de Gers

This is a fairly short, easy walk. The mountain pasture and lake are magnificent, but the access path, which is sometimes quite muddy, is mainly in the forest and offers few views.
Between Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, going up the Giffre torrent

After climbing up the Giffre torrent, cross the impressive footbridge over the Tines Gorges. Head to the hamlet of Le Mont and its small chapel to return to Samoëns, passing through picturesque villages.

Apart from the first hill at the start this is a mainly flat and low level walk from Samoens to Sixt Fer a Cheval and back taking in the Gorges des Tines. It is a pleasant walk with a lot to see and do.
The Tines Gorges

Discover the ancient Tines Gorges, carved out by the Giffre. Now abandoned by this turbulent torrent, these gorges offer a spectacular walk.
Please note: message from a hiker dated 18/09/2022: Part of the walk is closed by prefectural order due to the risk of falling trees. Another message dated 19/07/23 states: The path is destroyed in several places due to tree felling.

Loop via the Arête des Saix
A loop in a little-known area at one end of the Aravis. Pretty views of Mont Blanc and the Fayet valley. Totally doable in a day, but you can use the refuges to split the route.
La Bourgeoise

This is a fairly short walk with no real difficulty. There are beautiful views for much of the route and the scenery at the top is superb.
Crossing the Petit Bargy

This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Arve Valley, offering a wide variety of flora, fauna and geology.
Pointe de Bellegarde from Samoëns
A long and demanding hike to climb a summit that offers superb views. The first part of the ascent is mainly through forest. The terrain opens up after the Refuge de Folly. The route from Lac des Chambres is very pleasant, in a beautiful high mountain setting.
Col des Annes to the Refuge Gramusset and back via Col de Borne Ronde

Col des Annes - Gouille des Fours via the Col des Verts
Depart from the Col des Annes, pass by the Refuge de la Pointe Percée, then by the Col des Verts. Camp at the Gouille des Fours, where ibex have made their home, with a magnificent view of Mont Blanc.

Second day towards Lac de Tardevant via the Grande Forclaz and Ambrevetta, returning via alpine pastures to the Pointe des Annes.

Lac and Col d'Anterne in 2 days starting from Plaine Joux
If you spend a night at the Moëde Anterne refuge, you can make a round trip to Lake Anterne, taking a different route on the descent from the refuge.Beautiful view of Mont Blanc. Three lakes on the programme: Lac de Pormenaz on the first day, then a night at the refuge, Lac d'Anterne the next day, which reflects the rocky ridge of Les Fiz, and Lac Vert near Plaine Joux, to be saved for the return trip.
