Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car-park at Col des Annes take the broad track leading up to the Tete des Annes and along the ridge past Pointe des Delevrets.

(1) The descent to Col de l'Oulettaz is a little steep and narrow and has a chain to assist walkers. Take care if it is wet. From the Col de l'Oulettaz take the path through alpine pasture upwards and into interesting limestone territory to where the path splits

(2) Take the left hand path uphill via some zig-zags to the Refuge Gramusset, again passing past huge sheets of water worn limestone and with Pointe Percee towering above.

(3) The refuge is a good place to have lunch. Retrace your steps and head back downhill to the junction in the path.

(4) Take the left hand turn down hill to the farm at le Planet, there is another short steep section just before the farm where you will need to take care.

(5) Cross the bridge and take the good track contouring the hillside and into the forest. The track climbs steadily to a junction with another track.

(6) Keep right and ascend steadily uphill crossing a couple of streams and then on to the Col de Borne Ronde.

(7) Follow the main road on your right. (not the small path which is also on your right). From the Col de Borne Ronde take the track downhill on your right and through pastures until there is a marked path on the right which leads over the pasture and back the Col des Annes.

(8) Take the path on your right, which leads you back to the car park.

Notes

A nice walk, well marked and through interesting scenery. Good footwear is advised and there are two places where the path is steep and care needs to be taken.

The return via the Borneronde pass allows you to make a loop, but the path between Le Planet, Borneronde and Col des Annes is not particularly interesting.

A very beautiful hike along a ridge before tackling some slightly more technical sections, which are nevertheless accessible and undoubtedly fun for children and teenagers. A varied route that is easy to follow, with magnificent 360° views of the Aravis mountain range.
The Gramusset refuge is an option that some may wish to avoid to reduce the elevation gain and distance (less than 8 km and 500 m elevation gain). One of the most beautiful and accessible trails in the area.
