Combrit Cove and the Lestremeur site

Access: from Plomelin via the D20, known as the “Route des Châteaux”.

GR®34 and^GR®38: red and white markings

(S/E) With your back to the car park, head left onto the path along Anse de Combrit, which is bordered by woodland. Follow the edge of the cove, where you can spot many birds commonly found on mudflats. Ignore all the paths branching off to the left until you reach a viewing point.

(1) Shortly afterwards, the path turns left and climbs up to the Lestremeur site. Turn right to walk alongside a pond, then past a fountain, a building housing a bread oven, and finally a beautiful dovecote. You’ll come out onto a small road opposite Lestremeur Manor.

(2) Turn right, walking alongside the manor’s boundary wall. Ignore the private entrance to the Manoir de Bodivit on your right and, immediately afterwards, the access road to the Lestrevihan farm (greenhouses). You’ll reach a crossroads and leave the^GR® trail^.

(3) Turn right and follow this road lined with beautiful beech trees; pass a cross and then a partly derelict house, before arriving at a small car park opposite a private property.

(4) Go through a gate and follow the path along the edge of the field to reach the banks of the Odet. Continue along the path overlooking the river (with a view of the Pont de Cornouaille bridge spanning the river). Pass a spot where a group of small boats are moored.

(5) At this point, you have two options:
- at low tide, head down onto the foreshore and continue to the start of the Anse de Combrit.
- stay on the path to reach the junction between the Odet and Anse de Combrit.
An ideal spot for a break (a small sandy area). It is possible to continue along part of the foreshore, but the private woodland path prevents you from completing a circular route and returning to this point (3).

(6) Turn back. Follow the route in reverse to return to the crossroads and rejoin the GR^®.

(3) Turn right, then carry on straight ahead along the road lined with majestic beech trees. Pass an equestrian centre on your left; ignore the roads on your right leading to Kerlek and Stang Kerlek, and you’ll reach a woodland.

(7) Turn left to cross the woodland, following more or less an old fitness trail that is no longer maintained. You’ll emerge at a cross, almost opposite the Saint-Roch Chapel (private).

(8) Turn left onto a path which runs above the D20 for a while, turns left then right, skirting past fir tree plantations, and descends to the car park (S/E) on the left.

Lestremeur Manor (not open to the public), owned by the Sévigné family from 1684 to 1713, a family of the Breton nobility, whose most famous member is the Marquise de Sévigné.
Bodivit Manor (not open to the public), where the Le Dean family lived; they were pioneers in the cultivation of potatoes in Cornouaille.
The Saint-Roch Chapel (private) dates from the 16th century and is a former outbuilding of Bodivit, a former parish abolished in 1790–1792 and incorporated into Plomelin.
