Description of the walk

The start is right in the centre of the village, in the town hall car park, part of which is designated as a motorhome area.

(S/E) From the car park, turn left onto Hent Ty Plouz then right onto Rue Pen Ar Steir (thatched cottage at the entrance). Walk straight down the street for 200 m and continue along the stone wall into the woods opposite.

(1) Keep to the right to pass the wash house and the Kerveguen Fountain. Follow the path straight up to a road. Follow it uphill to the right and continue straight on to the town hall.

(2) Opposite the town hall, turn left onto Rue de Croas Ver and continue until thesecond street on the right, Rue Poul ar Ven Déro. Take this road, pass the school, then at the junction, turn left onto Rue de Kerdual and continue until the water tower.

(3) Just before the water tower, turn right towards the hamlet of Croas Hir. Go to the end of the street and take the small path that continues from there. At the junction with Rue Louis Garin, turn left, then at the end of the street, turn left again. Continue for 200 m.

(4) Take a dead-end road on the right leading to a footbridge joining Allée de Ty Scoul; turn left, then take the path on the right 100 m further on. At the end of this, turn right and continue straight on, passing two streets on your right. Continue for 50 m and carry on opposite along a path (markedGR®®34) turning right onto a small grassy area. At the end of this, go down to the left, passing an old house, to reach the Prat San Tual wash house.

(5) At the wash house, continue along the path through the woods and carry on to the meadow. Go round the meadow on the left, leaving the access to it on your right after 20 m. After a few metres, leave the edge of the meadow by taking the path on the left into the small wood, and continue to the shore of the cove.

(6) At the Beg an Istr viewpoint, enjoy the panoramic view of the cove (magnificent sunsets). Continue along the coastal path to the right. Leave the sea wall on your left and leave the path as it bends, heading up opposite towards the housing estate (a few steps) and passing between two properties.

At the road, cross over and go straight up the path to the road at the top, Rue du Docteur Fernand Chauvel. Take the road almost directly opposite, which leads to the garden behind the church. Continue to the left and take a path opposite to return to the town hall car park (S/E).

Worth a visit

The starting point is also the starting point for several other walks. This route follows quiet streets and easily accessible paths that do not (or very rarely) overlap with other walking routes. The town’s many wash houses are maintained by the Mein ha dour (Stone and Water) association.
A visit to the village church will appeal to lovers of traditional religious buildings.
The banks of the Combrit cove, adjacent to the River Odet, offer vantage points for observing riverside wildlife and are ideal for a picnic break.
The village of Combrit boasts a wealth of diverse landscapes (woods, meadows, the banks of the Odet, the port of Sainte-Marine, fine sandy beaches, polders...) and heritage (chapels, wash houses, fountains...)
Just 3 km away, the picturesque port of Sainte-Marine is well worth a visit (port life, marina, local restaurants, chapel, cultural exhibitions, etc.). In summer, a foot and cycle ferry connects the town to Bénodet.
The Pointe de Combrit, situated at the mouth of the estuary, is a recommended stop for its views, the Maison Ti Napoléon and the fort (art exhibitions).
The Cornouaille Bridge, which links the towns of Combrit and Bénodet, offers a magnificent view (car park and access) of the river and the Odet estuary.

A very pleasant walk, with a few sections on footpaths through the village of Combrit and the surrounding woods. The church in Combrit is well worth a visit.
