Park in the fairground square in the village of Commana. Note the truncated granite stele dating from the second Iron Age and Christianised in the Middle Ages.
(S/E) From the fairground square, turn right into Venelle du Bois de La Roche and walk past the school.
(1) At the football pitch, turn left and walk alongside it. At the fork near the sports hall, turn left into a cul-de-sac and at the end, take a pedestrian passage between the houses.
(2) Cross the D11 at the pedestrian crossing and take the passageway that leads to the D211.

Follow it to the right, then turn left towards the Manoir Neuf farm and reach the D764.
(3) Cross it with extreme caution and continue straight ahead along the road. Pass Kerdrein Braz on your right and arrive at a bend in the road.
(4) Leave the road and turn right onto a path, then turn left onto a sunken lane that leads to a road.
Off the marked trail
(5) Turn left towards the hamlet of Mougau Braz. Before entering the hamlet, look for a sign indicating Fontaine Saint-Jean and turn onto a path that leads there (beautiful setting with a wash house). Continue along the path that joins the road to Allée Couverte de Mougau Bihan.

(6) Take a few steps back to join the bog interpretation route (a long route on a superb boardwalk that winds through the bog).
(7) At the exit of the bog, turn right onto a gravel path and follow it until it meets a road. Follow the road to the left, climbing steadily until you reach a bend, where you leave it.
(8) Turn left onto a wide gravel path until you reach some fields, then continue along a narrow path between the broom bushes. This path climbs steadily and leads to the Croaz Mélar crossroads (Croas on the map).
No markings
(9) Turn right onto a wide track that descends alongside a wood and, after about a hundred metres, look for the monumental cross called Croaz Mélar among the fir trees. A passageway provides access to it.
(10) Go back up through the coniferous forest and return to the Croaz Mélar crossroads (sign).
(9) Continue straight ahead on a stony path that leads to the ridge, which you follow in a north-easterly direction on a dirt track that climbs steadily between rocky outcrops. This section offers beautiful views of Commana and the entire Léon plateau to the north, and Montagne Saint-Michel and Lac de Brennilis to the south.
(11) At the crossroads (signposted), continue straight ahead. Looking back, you can see Lac du Drennec to the west, a water reserve for the city of Brest and a leisure centre. Continue until you reach the D11.
(12) Cross this road with caution and continue opposite along a path that climbs past an old slate quarry on your left, which is not very visible. This climb is slightly steeper and you will be walking towards the TDF antenna that provides terrestrial television coverage for most of Finistère and part of Côtes-d'Armor. You will come to a wide stone path on the left.
(13) Turn left onto this wide, downhill track. At a fir tree plantation, leave the stony path and turn right onto a track in the moorland which descends towards the D764, running alongside a wood.
(14) Cross with extreme caution and turn right onto the path that runs alongside the departmental road for about 400 metres before turning left onto a wide, gravel road suitable for vehicles (signposted Restancaroff). Continue to this large hamlet, which belonged to the Abbey of Relecq and has retained its character (houses, bread oven, linen laundry).
(15) Cross the hamlet, deviating slightly from the signposts, and turn left twice to rejoin the signposted local road. Take it to the right and pass through the hamlet of Ponclet Huella, another hamlet with traditional buildings.
Off the marked trail
(16) After about 100 metres, turn right heading north and head towards Ponclet Izella (traditional hamlet). Note the gargoyle and decorations on the roof ridge, a reminder of the former stud farmer who lived in this village. At the exit, turn left onto the road and at the crossroads with a cross, turn left to descend onto the marked trail before a bend in the road (on the left, view of the Roc'h Trévézel ridges).
PR Marked in very discreet yellow
(17) Leave this and turn right onto a narrow dirt track that descends towards a stream, which you cross via a concrete footbridge.
(18) The path uphill has become difficult to follow at the start. Go back up it, following a parallel path through the woods (a short steep climb), and rejoin the path to reach a road near a house. Continue straight ahead and note the premises of the former college, which closed in 2017, on your right. You will arrive at the main road (D11).
(19) Turn right towards the parish enclosure. Enter through the triumphal gate and walk around (you can visit the church, see "Practical information") before returning to the fairground (S/E).
