Parking is available at the cemetery car park.
(S/E) From the car park, go down the street on the right and join Rue Joseph Salaun.
Yellow markings, sometimes combined with light blue markings.
Note the Fontaine Saint-Gilles fountain on the right, recognisable by the statue of the saint, a hunter's arrow piercing his hand and a doe nestled at his feet, then continue downhill. After the small calvary on the right, pass under the D765 and turn left, leaving the road that climbs alongside the departmental road.
Pass the Kernévez farmhouse, which is undergoing renovation, and leave a trail on your left in a water catchment protection area (barrier) as well as access to a pumping station.
(1) At the "Domaine de Marc'hallac'h" sign, enter the woods on the left and follow the path that runs alongside the source of the Goyen river. The path branches off to the right and gradually climbs, winding through the woods.
Light blue markings
(2) At the road, cross over, walk a few dozen metres towards Vérouri to get a view of the Château de Marc'hallac'h (private) and return to the road, turning right. Follow this road, ignoring the accesses to two farms on the left and then on the right.
(3) At Kerlan, turn left following the markings into a wide lane lined with magnificent beech trees. Begin a long, steady climb.
(4) Cross a road and continue straight ahead. You will be accompanied by the cries of a colony of jackdaws that have made their home there. (If this passage is no longer possible, continue on the small road).
At the end of the path, you will see a stone viewpoint on the left. It is possible to climb up to it, but be careful as one step is missing from the short iron ladder. This is the highest point in Plonéis (163m).
No markings
(5) Leave the marked trail and turn right onto a path leading to some fields. This area is often very muddy as it is used by livestock. After the farm buildings, the path becomes wider and easier to walk on. Opposite the Kergoat entrance, turn left and follow this small road downhill.
(6) At the T-junction, turn right towards the Brézéhen farm, which you can spot by its silo. Follow this small road as it gently descends (panoramic view of Plonéis).
(7) At the farm, leave the road opposite and turn left. Continue along this small road which gradually descends towards the Manoir de Kervern, following its imposing wall.
(8) Turn left for about 200 metres, then turn right to descend towards the Moulin de Kervern, the only mill in the commune of Plonéis among the 19 located on the Goyen river.
(9) At a craft workshop, turn left and take the path that goes around the mill on the left. Cross the river and begin a steep climb to the next crossroads.
(10) At the Y-shaped crossroads (old signpost), turn left and descend towards La Boissière, where you will find the late 17th-century chapel on your right (large enclosure and picnic table).
Retrace your steps, go around the farm on the left and head towards the fountain located about 300m north-west of the chapel (signposted).
(11) Descend nearly 80 steps to reach it at the bottom of the valley. Built of cut stone, it bears the date 1693.
Retrace your steps and follow the same route back up the road.
(10) Continue straight along this north-east facing road for about 1.5 km. Ignore two roads on the right. At the T-junction, follow the road on the right for a few dozen metres, then turn left to pass under the D765. Continue along a large housing estate and pass the sign marking the entrance to the village.
(12) Turn right to enter the housing estate and follow the cycle path. N.B. The IGN map is not up to date here. Turn left onto a stabilised path, keeping the bell tower in your sights. Pass between the Ti an Dourigou hall and the school, then take the footpath opposite that runs alongside the cemetery and leads to the car park (S/E).
