Discovering Romilly’s heritage

Park in the media centre car park. An information board about this route is located at the starting point. Follow the green signposts.

(S/E) As you leave the car park, head right onto Rue Neuve towards the C.A.R.R.E. hall. Turn left onto Rue Saint-Georges and follow it up to the junction with Rue de la Libération (RD321).

(1) Turn right, cross at the pedestrian crossing and veer left. Walk between the small car park on the left and Saint-Georges Church, heading up towards the cemetery. Once you reach the car park, take the path on the right which leads up to the statue of Christ.

(2) Head back down the same path and then return to the level of the church. Turn left to follow the tarmac footpath running alongside the departmental road, and continue to the pedestrian crossing.

(3) Cross the road, retrace your steps and head onto the path on the left which runs alongside a property wall. Cross Rue de la Planquette, and continue almost directly opposite onto the small road called Chemin de la Planche du Moulin Cabot. Go straight on to the end of the road.

(4) Carry on to the left, cross the Cabot (a tributary of the Andelle) and follow the path which soon bends to the right and joins Rue Blingue. Turn right onto it, then veer left to follow the Sente de la Truite and reach the banks of the Andelle. 

(5) Head right to walk alongside the Andelle, continue along the Sente du Rivage whilst staying by the river, and join the Chemin du Moulin des Ponts.

(6) Turn right, then turn left onto the street known as Chemin du Maconnais and follow it to the end.

(7) Pass the site of the former glassworks gate and cross the entire area. At the Andelle orchard, turn right onto Avenue de la Gare and walk the whole length of the street, crossing Rue Blingue at the pedestrian crossing. At the end, you’ll come out onto Rue de la Libération (RD321). 

(8) Follow the departmental road to the right as far as the pedestrian crossing, cross over and carry straight on along the path through the fields until you reach a junction: sign no. 16.

(9) Turn right and follow the path, which bends sharply to the right further on and rejoins the RD321. 

(10) Turn left and follow the pavement to the pedestrian crossing. Cross over and take the Chemin du Marais opposite. At the next junction, follow the road to the right until you reach the bend by the spinning mill. 

(11) Leave the road and take the path on the right leading to the tarmac road known as Chemin du Marché. Continue to the junction, turn left to walk alongside the marsh and emerge onto Rue Neuve. Turn left again to complete the walk around the marsh. 

(12) Turn right onto Rue Maurice Ravel, continue until you reach Rue Blingue and turn left onto it. At the junction of Rue aux Ormes and Chemin de la Taillanderie, carry on straight ahead, pass the wash house and rejoin Rue Blingue. Continue to the right for about a hundred metres.

(13) Turn left, go to the end of the street and turn left again. Cross Rue Saint-Georges and continue straight ahead onto Rue aux Ormes. Then take the next street on the right, walk past the nursery school and return to the media centre car park (S/E).
