Park in the Château de Clisson car park.
(S/E) Walk down the Venelle de la Courtine, exit through the small gate at the bottom, cross the road and turn right onto the footpath.
Stay on top of the embankment, heading towards the Temple de l'Amitié and the Henri IV column, until you reach Rue Saint-Gilles.
(1) Continue left along this street, then carry on for a few metres along Rue de la Madeleine. Turn left again into Venelle des Ânes towards the Sèvre. Head right towards the water sports centre and the old mill, and continue to the HELFEST headquarters (extreme music festival)
(2) Continue to the right towards the Pont de l’Arsenal, cross the bridge and head up to the right until you reach Avenue Xavier Rineau.
(3) Turn left and follow the road until you reach the car park at the Domaine de la Garenne Lemot.
(4) Enter the park, head towards the Maison du Jardinier and the information point.
Walk through the buildings and head towards Villa Lemot, an exhibition venue. Go round to the right towards the terrace and its panoramic view of the city. Return via the garden and its statues, head towards the Temple of Diana and walk down towards the Sèvre. Turn right towards the exit and walk back up under the bridge.
(5) Explore the structure of this contemporary viaduct, then head back towards the Sèvre and the Saint-Antoine Bridge spanning the Moine. Towards the 4-star hotel, turn right into the alley, pass under the viaduct, and go past the low wall. Continue through the Garenne Valentin meadow. Turn left and head back up to the terrace of the Ancien Prieuré and the Church of the Trinity.
(6) After taking in the view of the Notre-Dame and Château area, go round the church to the right, cross the square and head down the Côte de la Vallée to the bridge of the same name.
(7) Take in the views in all directions and head up Rue de la Collégiale on the right, with its steps on the left and its umbrella pine. Continue up to the forecourt of Notre-Dame Church, then take the steps on the right from Les Halles.
(8) Go under the market halls and turn left onto the square at the castle entrance, then right, then left back to the starting point (S/E).
