Pays de Grignan – Truffle fields and vineyards

This route allows you to explore the medieval town via the Porte Anguille, flanked by two towers. It then takes you to the foothills of Taulignan to discover an ancient Roman road. Further on, the Domaine Bramarel lies at the heart of France’s main truffle-producing region. You’ll reach the Silk Road as you pass the burnt-out factory, a former blacksmith’s workshop. The route ends on the Blaches plateau and its famous Côtes du Rhône AOC vineyards

Mountain bike trail no. 11.

(S/E) From the village hall, turn left and cross the medieval town following signpost no. 11. Follow an old Roman road.

(3) Follow the road to the right. Further on, go down the path on the left to the D24 road.

(4) Cross over. Watch out for cars! and head right. Turn left, follow a lovely path on the right through the holm oaks, slightly technical in places.

(5) You’ll come out onto the D14 road. Watch out for cars! Cross the road and continue straight ahead uphill.

(6) On the right, take the wide path running alongside the vineyards, then turn left to descend to the ruins of “l’Estang”. Take the steep climb through the woodland and continue along a small road to “Domaine Bramarel”. Turn left onto the path running alongside the truffle oaks.

(7) Turn right onto a small road leading downhill. Reach a fork in the road.

(8) Turn right onto the Chemin de la Soie. Pass the Fabrique Brûlée and the old silk mills. Further on, head left up towards the D167.

(9) Cross the road – watch out for cars! – to reach a path through the vineyards.

(10) Cross the road to take the path opposite. The path descends. View of Mont Ventoux. Follow the road to the left leading to the “La Clarté Notre-Dame” monastery.

(11) Opposite, follow the path through the vineyards for 2 kilometres.

(12) Turn left before the shed and continue along the path through the vineyards. View of the bell tower in Taulignan. Turn left then right to join the D167 in Taulignan. Continue straight on and turn left to return to the village hall (S/E).

A very pleasant mountain bike route through vineyards, lavender fields and truffle plantations. Very little elevation gain and not technically demanding. The signposting is excellent.

We walked this lovely, long route, which is flat and passes through varied landscapes. Fortunately, there wasn’t much sun that day; the end can get quite hot... Follow the ‘21’ signs all the way. Only one or two are missing.
We shortened the route slightly by skipping point 12... We’d had enough of vineyards.

A very varied route, both in terms of the paths taken (narrow country lanes, footpaths, flagstone paths, a few scree slopes but nothing too difficult) and the scenery – including lavender fields, of course, but also vineyards, olive groves and, not to mention, truffle oaks. The view of Mont Ventoux and the surrounding mountains is ever-present, and you also come across a few very well-maintained estates and country houses. We even spotted a deer along the way... Well done on this very pleasant route starting from Taulignan; although I did hesitate in a few places, the signposting is very good.

A very pleasant walk – a lovely start in the old village of Taulignan. Beautiful views along the way – mostly quite shaded – completed during a heatwave (36–38°C) without any particular difficulties – Thank you for this route.
