Description of the walk

Snowshoe trail no. 1

(S/E) From the Prehistory Museum signpost, follow the specific snowshoe trail markers, which head due south along the same route as the GTV towards Espeline.

(1) From the Espeline crossroads, continue in the same direction. The route crosses several junctions and climbs gradually through the forest, emerging at a place known as Baraque Foretière du Lauset. Turn left (south-west) onto the lovely track to reach the Fontaine du Lauset.

(2) From the crossroads, leave the GTV route by taking the first track on the left (east), running alongside the Combe Loubatière. Continue along this wide track until you come to another track on the left.

(3) Take this track and then cross a small copse. After rejoining the GR® 93 (red and white markings), you’ll reach a small hut.

(4) Follow the specific snowshoe markings carefully at this point. The route leaves theGR® to the left, then winds its way through the undergrowth and clearings, before reaching large snow-covered expanses and then the car park where you started (S/E).

A real treat in the forest, amongst the snow-covered trees
