A lovely walk in the forest with beautiful views of the Loue valley from Ornans to Montgesoye from Roche Lahier and Roche Bottine.

Here is a walk to enjoy a stretch of the Doubs Valley. This route will allow walkers to enjoy the Gevrey Forest, follow the paths, reach the banks of the Doubs, make the most of the cycle route to take in the typical landscapes of the Doubs Valley – including the ruins of Montferrand Castle – and head back up towards Busy via Le Moulinot. Hike organised by Grand Besançon Métropole.

Explore Nancray, its water springs, its old mill, the Bois de la Côte, and finally return via the Forêt des Landes. And of course, take the opportunity to visit the Nancray Open-Air Ecomuseum of Comtois Houses, featuring around thirty typical rural houses from Franche-Comté.

Follow the water’s path as it disappears into the underground channels (see ‘During’ section below) at Saône, Gennes and Nancray, only to reappear near Arcier. The footpath and small roads through the woodland will take you from one hillside to the other, offering alternating views of the plateau and the Doubs valley, before you reach the water again at the Arcier springs.

In the foothills of the Alps, along the Siagne trail, set off to discover the historical trail of Napoleon in March 1815, from Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey to Escragnolles. Archaeological evidence also suggests that this route along the Siagne has been in use for thousands of years, as dolmens, burial mounds and rock shelters have been found in the immediate vicinity.

Climb to the highest point of the extreme Jura at 851 m, with 360° views of the plains and mountains of the Jura and, on a clear day, even Mont Blanc. Set off from Salins-les-Bains on the banks of the Furieuse, long known for its salt mining. A scenic and slightly challenging hike without any major difficulties.

The Malvaux and Langouette Gorges offer cool respite on hot summer days as well as magnificent scenery. This hiking route is suitable for families, with a shorter alternative (9.5 km) that does not go around Lac à la Dame. Part of the route follows the old tramway, so a head torch or torch is required to cross the 180 m tunnel.
