From Yarmouth to Freshwater Bay, enjoy the diversity of the Isle of Wight's landscapes, including the famous Needles from all angles and Tennyson's Monument. This is the first of a series of 6 walks that will take you around the Isle of Wight from west to east on the Coastal Path.

The chalk downs at the western end of the Isle of Wight offer some excellent walking. This route starts from Freshwater Bay and visits the Tennyson Monument before continuing to the Needles at the Far end of the island. The route also offers a good view of Alum Bay and on the final descent a grand panorama looking east along the coast to St Catherine's Point.

Walk in the wildest part of the Isle of Wight from Freshwater Bay and its exotic rocks to the little village of Brighstone. Witness the cliff change from chalk to clay and sandstone. Most of this walk overlooks the sea (Brighstone Bay) and is exhilarating. Don't miss Whale Chine, which reveals a narrow but deep, dark gorge. The end of the walk overlooks St Catherine's Point.
