Description of the walk

Starting from the car park at the town hall in Saint-André-de-Najac.

Yellow PR® signposting

(S/E) Turn your back on the town hall and head towards the crossroads. Take Rue de l’Autan on the left and continue to the Church of Saint-André.

(1) Follow the road to the left (Chemin de l’Orée du Bois), which continues as a dirt track. Walk downhill to the small Route de la Capélanie (cross).

(2) Take the road on the right. Pass under a stone arch and continue to the hamlet of La Capélanie.

(3) Head up the road to the right and, at the junction, turn left. Follow the small road towards the hamlet of Théron as far as a house, then head up a path through the woods to a Y-junction.

(4) Take the path on the left to join a small road at a hairpin bend, and head downhill to the left for about 200 m. Walk through the hamlet of Granouillet

(5) Follow a track suitable for vehicles which leads to the right bank of the Viaur.

(6) Turn right to walk alongside the river.

(7) Carry straight on to stay as close as possible to the riverbank, then follow the track away from it to reach Laval.

(8) Follow the road ahead, then veer to the right to go round the church (cross and statue of the Virgin Mary on the right), and carry on to the picnic area on the left.

(9) Head up to the right, along a path not shown on the map. Join the road leading to Laval, which you follow to the right for a good hundred metres: there’s a house on the left.

(10) Leave the road, turn right for a few metres and, at the fork in the path, take the left-hand path, which climbs quite steeply; the right-hand path is an alternative route. Join the road leading to Le Battut and follow it in the same direction until you reach the crossroads.

(11) Turn right to reach the entrance to the hamlet of L’Herm. Follow the road to the left for about a hundred metres, then turn right between two fields. Next, take a small path on the left which descends into the woods, then leave it to come out onto a tarmac road which you should follow straight on to reach La Grangetterie.

(12) Take a small dirt track on the right which leads to the hamlet of Fouloubal. Walk past the pottery workshop and follow a path on the right which descends through fields, then through woodland, to the hamlet of La Boucarie.

(13) Carry on straight ahead and head down the road. Cross a stream and, at the first Fork in the road, turn left onto the road leading to La Séverie. Walk through the hamlet and continue to the crossroads just past a large farm.

(14) Turn left, pass the hamlet of Le Combal (Le Combal lodge) and head down towards the village of Saint-André-de-Najac.

(15) When you reach a crossroads (with a cross and a bench), go straight on down the road towards the village.

(1) Continue straight on past the church and return to the starting point (S/E).
