To Féron by bike from Sains-du-Nord

Departure from Place du Général de Gaulle in Sains-du-Nord.

(S/E) Leaving the square, turn right onto Rue Edmond Wiart, then turn left onto Rue du Docteur Chevalier.

(1) At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue Jean-Baptiste Lebas.

(2) Opposite No. 54, turn right onto Rue des Fosses à Marne, cross the railway line and join the D951.

(3) Turn right and then quickly left onto Rue du Dachet, towards Étrœungt. At the intersection with Rue Mahy, continue straight ahead on Rue du Dachet and keep going until you reach the first houses in Zorées. An alternative route is to follow the GR® de Pays Tour de l'Avesnois.

(4) At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue de Noire Terre, then turn left towards Étrœungt (D123). At the four-way crossroads, continue straight ahead. Cross Cantraine,

(5) Continue straight ahead, pass Les Quatre Maisons and join the three-way junction a few metres further on.

(6) Leave the D123 and follow the left fork. At the next three-way junction, continue straight ahead and you will soon reach the next junction.

(7) Turn left and follow the signs for La Capelette. Continue straight ahead at the four-way crossroads and you will reach a three-way junction at the entrance to the hamlet of Les Hayettes.

(8) Turn right onto Chemin des Hayettes, continue straight ahead, cross the Pont de Sains river and continue to the crossroads at Tatimont.

(9) Turn left onto the GR® de Pays Tour de l'Avesnois and continue straight ahead.

(10) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead on Rue du Buisson Barbet towards Féron. Pass Ferme Depret and La Masure and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads with a cross and two wayside shrines.

(11) Turn left downhill onto Rue du Calvaire.

(12) At Place de Féron, turn left onto Rue d'Avesnes and continue straight ahead. Cross the Pont de l'Écluse bridge over the Rivière du Pont de Sains and keep right at the next crossroads, heading towards Rainsars.

(13) A few metres further on, turn right onto Route de Féron, cross the lock, continue straight ahead, pass Les Garennes and Le Terniau.

(14) At the fork, continue left on Route de Féron and you will soon reach the next junction.

(15) Just after the small bridge, turn right onto Chemin des Combes.

(16) At the four-way crossroads, continue straight ahead on Chemin des Combes and you will arrive at a crossroad.

(17) Turn right onto Rue des Bergeries, go straight ahead, cross the railway line and take the^first road on the left, opposite a reception hall.

(18) Turn left onto Chemin Montillon. When you reach Rue Sadi Carnot (D951), make a quick first turn left then right and continue onto Rue du 8 Mai 1945. At the stop sign, continue straight ahead and join the four-way intersection at the bottom of the slope.

(19) Turn right onto the D80, Rue Léon Gambetta, towards Liessies and take the^second street on the left.

(20) Follow this road, Rue Marcoux, then turn right onto Rue Jean Jaurès, then left onto Rue Edmond Wiart, and join Place du Général de Gaulle (S/E).

Short variant (14.8 km)
At point (5), turn left onto Chemin de la Chapelle du Buffle, cross a bridge and continue on the path on the right, the GRP®. At the intersection (elevation 189), turn left onto Chemin de Touvent, continue straight ahead, ignore all side roads, and pass Le Grand Faux. At the next intersection (elevation 198), turn right onto Route d'Etrœungt, continue straight ahead and ignore any side paths. At the T-junction, turn left onto Route de Sains and pass the Rainsars farm. At the fork (elevation 184), turn right onto Route de Sains. At the next fork, turn right onto Chemin du Bois and return to the point (16), then follow the description of the main route.
