Vercorin - Chalais

The starting point for this stage is at the Hostellerie d'Orzival in Vercorin.

(S) From the Hostellerie d'Orzival, go up the cul-de-sac to the main street. Turn right, then right again onto the road for the cable car. Follow this road, which then becomes the Route de Nax. Just before a bend, look for the start of a path (hiking sign).

(1) At the sign, take the path on the right and you will soon reach an intersection.

(2) Take the path on the left. After about 1 km through the forest, you will rejoin the Route de Nax. Continue along this road for about 1 km until you find a shortcut that cuts across the hairpin bend.

(3) Take the shortcut on the right and rejoin the road to Nax. Continue along this road for about 800 m and, just after the bend, look carefully for the start of a path. Be careful, there are no signs or landmarks.

(4) Take the Moulin road, which starts as a small path but quickly becomes a track. Follow the track until you reach a fork with a yellow sign.

(5) Leave the Route du Moulin and take the path on the right. Begin a steep descent to the Rèche waterfall. Continue to a crossroads near the Torrent la Rèche.

(6) As indicated on the sign, head towards Réchy until you reach the next sign.

(7) Leave the Réchy path and take the Bisse de Ricard on the left. Cross the Rèche and admire the beautiful waterfall as you pass. Overlook the waterfall near a fork in the path.

(8) Take advantage of a picnic table at the fork on the left to take a break. Return to the intersection and turn right to begin following the Bisse de Ricard as indicated. Make a detour into the vineyards and follow the signs (informative panels). Join a road.

(9) Cross the road and continue eastwards as indicated by a hiking sign. Continue through the vineyards on a path that follows the Bisse de Ricard irrigation channels. You will come to another road.

(10) Keep heading northeast and, following the signs, walk through the vineyards until you reach the forest where the Bisse reappears. Continue this beautiful walk along the water's edge to the fields of Chararogne.

(11) Cross the road and take the path opposite. Begin the descent towards Chalais on a fairly wide path. After a crossroads, watch out for a narrower path on the left.

(12) Head west to gradually rejoin the road to Chippis. Shortly after reaching this road, turn left onto Chemin du Simplon. At the first houses, look out for a small bridge.

(13) Turn right and cross the canal at Les Ziettes. Continue along the canal and pass under the Vercorin cable car cable. Turn right into the cul-de-sac that follows. Then quickly return to the cable car car park (E).
