The walk starts from the picnic area where you will find a map of the route.
NB: another departure point from the hamlet of Costes Auriès, as an alternative to avoid the tarmac section of the return journey, is suggested in the Practical Information section.
Yellow markings
(S/E) Leave the picnic area behind you on your right and head towards the main street. Turn left, then right 100 metres further on, onto a dirt track that curves to the left after the farm. A few dozen metres after the curve, and before the next farm, turn onto the grassy path on the right. At the next crossroads, turn left to reach the road.
(1) At the road, turn right and, 20 metres further on, take the grassy track on the left and follow the yellow markings to the next crossroads.
(2) Start of the first variant: climb the path on the right that heads north. At the first crossroads, take the hairpin bend to the left to return south. At the road, viewpoint and grassy area on the left, continue straight ahead towards the hamlet of Costes Auriès, passing in front of the tool shed.
(3) Before the museum, descend the path on the left, crossing the sheepfold and following the yellow markings. Continue along the path and keep left at the next two crossroads.
(4) Start of the second variant: turn right downhill, through the box trees, then follow the Dadou stream to the right. After 500 metres, leave the Dadou and follow a stream, heading north-west.
(5) End of the second variant, junction with the classicPR®: continue left, following the yellow markings.
(6) At the northern entrance to Costes Auriès, climb up the stony path on the left. At the road, turn left and return to the intersection of the loop.
(1) Retrace your steps along the beginning of the path to return to the starting point (S/E).
