The walk starts from the car park of the Coudraye campsite, at the bottom of Rue de la Coudraye, which branches off from Rue de la Belle Angevine (the main street in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay). Coming from the village centre, it is on the left at the wine museum.
(S/E) When looking at the entrance to the campsite, with the small lake behind you, the start is on the left side of the campsite, via the Château Gaillard path. Less than 100 metres away, turn right onto the path that runs alongside the small stream. Follow it to the Hyrôme river and the wider path that runs alongside it.
(1) Take this path on your right and follow the Hyrôme to a footbridge that crosses it, then continue along the path that climbs uphill. Join a wider path that leads to the houses of La Jutière.
(2) At the crossroads, turn left, then right. At the next crossroads, turn left. Follow the twists and turns of this path until you approach the A87 motorway, which you can see in the distance and, above all, hear. Fork the small stream (the Bouillons stream) and then climb through the vineyards. At the junction with the D125, turn left and then, after 100 metres, take the second path on the right. At the next junction, turn left, then take the road on the right towards the houses in the hamlet of Le Coin d'Hyrôme.
(3) At the Coin d'Hyrôme cross, continue along the road to the right, then turn left at the next Y-junction. Walk through the vineyards, keeping close to the motorway.
(4) At the viaduct, turn left with your back to the motorway, with the Layon on your right and the vineyards on your left. The path turns left and runs along the right bank of the Hyrôme. Continue to the entrance to Paimparé.
(5) Turn right onto the road that crosses the Hyrôme to continue in the opposite direction on the left bank.
(6) At the foot of the D160, turn right onto the path that descends towards the Layon. Cross the Layon on the Pont Barré bridge, whose history is described on signs.
(7) Immediately after the bridge, turn left onto the path that runs alongside the Layon and passes under the D160.
Follow the Layon on its right bank. On the right, high up, is the Coteaux du Pont Barré Nature Reserve. Follow the path and its yellow markings to the D209. Take it on the left and cross the Layon.
(8) At the crossroads after the bridge, turn left towards Bézigon. Then walk up the Layon on its left bank. The path continues between the Layon and the vineyards. After about 600 metres, the path branches off to the right and moves away from the Layon, through the vineyards. This path meets another, wider path.
(9) Turn right, still through the vineyards, towards Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay. On the right, there are trees with labels at their base. Every year, a tree is planted for each child born in the commune. Turn left after this group of trees.
(10) At the end of Chemin des Chesnaies, turn left onto the D125. Cross the D160 and turn right towards the car park. Cross it and continue straight ahead. Take the path on the left along the vineyards.
(11) At Rue du Val d'Hyrôme, turn right, then left onto Chemin Château Gaillard.
(12) At the fork, take the path on the right that leads to a park. Cross the park straight ahead to the end, then turn left along the wall to descend to an old gate in the wall that leads back to the starting point (S/E).
Be sure to follow the route and the Visorando map, which are very well done: the yellow markings are sometimes confusing. At point 4, at the viaduct, it indicates to turn right when you should turn left.
