Creuse Valley south of Gargilesse

Circular route with a long return trip along the Creuse, on the heights then on the riverbank, passing by the Belvédère de la Roche-Bat-en-l'Eau.

Description of the walk

In Gargilesse, park near the cemetery, small car park on the road between the village and the Creuse.

No signposts

(S/E) Go to the cemetery and take the road opposite. Go straight ahead at the crossroads.

(1) About 250 m further on, take the path on the right which joins a road in the hamlet of Le Cerisier. Follow it to the right for about 50 metres.

(3) Look for theGRP®® markings and follow them straight ahead along the road.

No markings

200 m further on, leave theGRP®® which branches off to the right and continue along the road to a place called Les Chérons.

(3) At the crossroads, find theGRP®® markingsagain. Follow the road to the left, then take the first path on the right. The path approaches the Creuse, while remaining high up until you reach the Ruisseau des Côtes Planes. Then it descends to the riverbank.

(4) Continue along the riverbank until you reach a campsite and beach on the other side of the river.

(5) Take the fairly steep path up to the left to reach the Belvédère de la Roche-Bat-en-l'Eau viewpoint, then descend back to the riverbank.

(5) Continue and join a path near a road.

(6) Continue along the path on the right until you reach the bottom of the bridge over the Creuse (picnic area).

(7) Return via the same route you took on the way there, until you reach Le Cerisier.

(2) At the crossroads, continue on theGRP®® to the left along the street and then the path that extends it.

(8) Pass over the dam and power station. Continue along the road.

(9) At a place called La Chaumerette, leave the road and take the path that runs alongside the Creuse river and joins the confluence with the Gargilesse.

(10) Then follow the road to the right to return to the village and find the car park (S/E).
