Description of the walk

Park at the hamlet of Gardelle; it is also possible to park in the village of Sérignac-Péboudou.

(S/E) Walk through the hamlet, continuing westwards to reach the D161 at the hamlet of La Souque Haute.

(1) At the junction, turn right onto the Route de Lauzun. Continue to the crossroads marked by the ‘Quatre Chemins’ sign.

(2) Take the road on the left and head towards the sign for ‘Le Lac’.
Carry on straight ahead, leaving the road and taking a track. You’ll reach the right-hand bank of the lake.

(3) Turn right to follow the path alongside Lac des Graoussettes. Walk round the lake, first heading west, then north and finally south. You’ll reach the car park.

(4) Keep to the lakeside until you reach the crossroads in the hamlet of Lapourcaud.

(5) Carry on to the left. The path then enters the forest, where it splits several times; there are several possible routes. Stay in the forest, keeping to the edge of the lake. When you reach a clearing, cross to the left to return to the junction with the path you took on the way there.

There were three of us out walking; we decided to do the circular route starting from point 3, where there’s space to park two or three cars at most.
At that time, on 2 May 2025, we came across some very muddy patches quite frequently. Two of us were wearing good walking boots, but for our son, who was in trainers, it was rather difficult to get through these sections. So make sure you wear good footwear – or even boots, depending on the season.
In a few places, the path gets a bit lost amongst the brambles and vegetation – I think this is because it’s not very well used.

We completed the circuit in just over two hours. So if you’re setting off from the village, I think the estimated time is a bit short – allow for more time.
