To reach the start, take the lake road on the La Meilleraye side. Follow the lake road through the forest. Pass the Crêperie du Lac and continue to the end of the road.
(S) From the car park, head east, cross the roundabout and continue straight ahead, following the picnic tables. The path is signposted "Lac de Vioreau" and marked in yellow. Follow the path along the lake until you reach the D178.
(1) Follow the road to the right for a few dozen metres, on the path behind the safety rails. At the end of the bridge, take the first road on the right. Follow this road for about 350 metres.
(2) Turn right onto a wide path and follow the lake along its entire southern shore. The trail continues along a pleasant, shaded path in beautiful surroundings. You can get close to the lake along the entire route.
(3) Cross the Vioreau dam (a remarkable stone structure, see photo). At the end of the dam, continue right onto Chemin du Halage and continue along Rue du Lac.
(4) Leave the tarmac road via a narrow path on the right and head towards the lake. At the edge, turn left and continue west.
(5) Return to the tarmac and take the road on the right (north) to cross the dyke with the lake on either side of the road. At the end of the dyke, continue to the right, then take the first path on the right. At the end of the path, take the road on the right again, which will take you to the village of Vioreau.
(6) Then take the first road on the right towards the beach and the campsite. Cross the bridge at the end of which you will see the restored ruins of an old castle on your left.
(7) At the end of the bridge, leave the road and take the path on the right and continue along the lake. After passing the sailing school and the leisure centre, cross an old bridge and return to the car park where you started (S/E).
