Gentle walk in Nort-sur-Erdre

This walk is flat and allows you to follow the Erdre river before climbing back up from L'Isle along the Ruisseau de Montagné. This route is very natural, except for the section through the town centre (where we pass over a milestone on the Way of St James).

Description of the walk

Park in the Intermarché car park in Nort-sur-Erdre.

(S/E) Head north. After two roundabouts, take the road to Joué-sur-Erdre for a few dozen metres on the left, taking great care with the traffic. A passage through a cultivated field allows you to follow it on the right until you reach the old road to Joué. Take this road on the left and you will soon come to a crossroads.

(1) Turn right onto this road, descend towards the Trudelle road below, turn left and continue until you reach the crossroads in the shipyard district.

(2) Turn right, cross the Erdre on the footbridge at the Super U supermarket and head towards Saint-Christophe Church.

(3)Go around it, joinRue de la Paix and cross it to take Rue du Général Leclerc opposite. A few dozen metres further on, turn left onto Boulevard Pasteur and follow the Parking du Général de Gaulle car park. When you reach the busy Route d'Héric , cross the pedestrian crossing and turn left. After a few dozen metres, follow the port on your left until you reach the footbridge over the Erdre.

(4) Take this road and, opposite the tourist office, go around it on the right. Then take a path shared with cyclists that runs alongside the Marais de la Guénardière. At the end of this path, take the pavement on the right for a few dozen metres to reach Rue de la Guénardière. Cross further ahead on the left at the junction with Rue des Salicaires.

(5) Stay on this street for a few metres, then turn right onto the path that continues it, on the right-hand side of the housing estate. This path, a few hundred metres long, leads to a large solitary tree, where you will join the Route de la Guénardière à la Guinelière.

(6) Turn left, cross the Chemin de la Ferme du Brossais, leaving it on your left. When you reach La Bruère, cross the road and turn right towards L'Île to join the D178.

(7) Cross it carefully at the pedestrian crossing and continue along the street opposite. Continue along this street for several hundred metres. Turn left and it will take you back to the countryside until you reach a crossroads. Opposite, there is a path to take. At the next T-junction, turn right. This path goes around a huge field on the right, just before the Deltamod building, and then look for a gap in the hedge on the right. This passage leads to a path that runs along the eastern edge of the ZA de la Pancarte industrial estate, joining the Ruisseau du Montagné. Follow this path to the place called Les Bâtisses.

(8) Leave the footbridge over the Montagné on your right. Turn left and then immediately right, following the John Deere and Gamm Vert buildings. Continue until you reach the Intermarché car park (S/E).
