Tour of the Arcachon basin, from Audenge to Biganos

The third stage of this tour of the Arcachon Basin leads from Audenge to Biganos station. The option chosen is to travel by train from Biganos to Arcachon because crossing the marshes is not possible during the chosen season (December).
The route is entirely on roads, with a pleasant stretch through a forest of various deciduous trees. Biganos is a larger town than the villages we passed through earlier and has no particular charm except for its harbour.

Description of the walk

(S) From Place du Marché, follow Rue du Port towards the town centre and you will soon reach a roundabout. Turn right onto the D3, then quickly turn right onto Rue de Comprian. Leave the town and you will reach a crossroad.

(1) Turn right and follow this quiet road through the woods until you reach Port des Tuiles on your right.

(2) After a brief glimpse of the basin, continue along the road until the next fork.

(3) Continue straight ahead on the cycle path and reach a four-way intersection in the village of Saint-Gervais.

(4) Leave the GRP® route, continue straight ahead and reach the end of Rue des Sables. Ignore Rue des Gaillards and turn left (Rue du Port) then join a roundabout near the church.

(5) Follow the D3 to the right until you reach a three-way junction.

(6) Keep left on the one-way street, pass in front of the town hall and continue straight ahead. Just before the bridge under the railway tracks, turn left and you will soon arrive at Biganos station (E).

Regular TER service between Biganos and Arcachon: see the SNCF website or the TER Aquitaine website. The journey to Arcachon takes about 20 minutes.
