Park at the Col de Rousset on the Die side.
(S/E) Walk down the D518 for about 50 metres, then take the path on the right that leads to the via Ferrata.
(1) Quickly turn right onto theGR®93(white and red markings) which overlooks the hairpin bends of the Col de Rousset road and crosses a scree slope. Continue to the natural Col de Rousset pass which overlooks the valley and offers beautiful panoramic views of the Beure plateau and the Chaîne du Veymont. You will reach a crossroads of paths.
(2) Leave theGR® trail on the right and take the path on the left, which descends the eastern slope of Montagne de Nève. The path becomes more marked and descends through the undergrowth, overlooking the buildings of Col du Rousset and its large car park on the right. You will reach a signpost.
(3) Take the wide path that branches off to the left (GR® de Pays Tour du Vercors Drômois) to the Col de Saint-Alexis.
(4) At the pass, a signpost indicates the direction: take the wide path on the left which climbs gently up the western slope of Montagne de Nève. You will arrive 100 metres before a "no entry" sign.
(5) Take the logging track that branches off to the left upstream from the path you have just left. The route to the But de Nève is not marked. First follow a north-easterly direction, then turn sharply right towards the south. At the edge of the woods, cairns indicate the direction of the But de Nève. Continue to the summit.
(6) Descend the grassy slope towards the sheepfold in the magnificent Chironne valley, clearly visible from the summit. Reach the Col de Chironne.
(7) Continue south, following the direction (signpost) of the Col de Rousset. Return to the initial crossroads.
(1) Retrace your steps to return to the car park (S/E).
