Tour of Cima della Roley in the Aosta Valley

Park in the free car park at the bridge. Please note: in good weather, this car park can get very busy. It is therefore advisable to arrive early if possible to secure a space.

(S/E) Start at the Auberge du Grand Paradis. Cross the Torrent de Savara, then turn right. Follow the riverbank to easily reach the Refuge du Tétras Lyre.

(1) Turn right, cross the torrent again and begin the fairly steep climb up to the Col du Grand Small Pass. After fording several streams and climbing a few metal steps to get past some steep rocks, you will reach the pass.

(2) Continue on to begin the descent. In a wetland area on the edge of the Doria du Nivolet, you will reach a group of old barns.

(3) Turn right to follow the course of the Doria du Nivolet. You will reach the large Plan Borgnoz mountain pasture at the confluence of several streams.

(4) Continue along the right bank of the Doria, then turn away from it to follow the right bank of another stream. You will reach the Croce del Arolley crossroads.

(5) Keep to the right and complete the fairly steep descent, which requires great caution, especially in wet weather. At the end of the descent, you will arrive at the Pont car park (S/E).

(S/E) Auberge du Grand Paradis, ideal for refreshments and/or a bite to eat on arrival. There is also a small convenience store for any emergency purchases.
(2) Col du Grand small pass: enjoy magnificent views of the valley, which is why I suggest hiking in this direction.
(4) Plan Borgnoz: for those who enjoy cool water, you can take a quick dip here.
