At the harbour exit, go up the central lane to the corner of Rue Napoléon.
(S/E) At the corner, turn left and walk along the houses until you reach the end of a long grey wall. Turn right - you will see the semaphore on the side of the square of the same name. 30 metres after turning, turn left and take the drawbridge.
(1) Walk towards Anse de la Croix beach. After taking a look at the very distinctive, if not unique, lighthouses overlooking the beach, turn right along the ditch and continue to a dyke that joins the Grande Plage. After a bend, the dyke has a small staircase on the right that leads down to the sand.
Note: at high tide, take the path a little further on, which leads to the same place.
(2) Walk along the beach on the foreshore until you come to a ramp for launching boats opposite some small houses, then a second one further on.
(3) Go up the ramp and take the low wall on the sea wall to the left. Continue along the old structures that protect the island from the sea. Continue along this path until you see a road turning off to your right. When you reach the place called Bout du Grand Chemin, follow this road to the left. After 100 m, it turns 90° to the right, and 20 m further on, a small path climbs up on the left.
(4) Take this path, go through the "anti-bike" barriers and continue along the path. Enter the forest at the end of the island. The path joins another larger path coming from the right. Cross it, passing through the two anti-bike barriers.
(5) Continue towards the sea and arrive at Pointe Saint-Eulard, a superb and spectacular spot. Turn right and follow this clearly marked path through the forest. All along the way, you will enjoy spectacular forest landscapes that end at large rock slides and the beautiful blue-green sea.
Pass under the green oak trees with their twisted trunks and arrive at Baby Beach, which is covered with sand at high tide.
Take in this magnificent spot, with the Sables d'Or beach a little further on, creating a heavenly landscape.
(6) Return to the trail and take a look as you continue to Sables d'Or. After that, the trail becomes a slightly wider path covered with white minerals. Turn left first, then a little further on to the right and finish on the road coming from the village to arrive at Pointe de Coudepont.
Take the road on the right and follow the large bay, Anse des Vases. Continue on the left at the Bois Joly crossroads. This road will take you back to the village, after thesecond drawbridge.
(7) Turn left immediately and pass behind the church. Take this small road along the casemates, follow the powder magazine and then the ramparts. After the last house, return to Place Austerlitz. Turn right to return to the starting point at the corner of Rue Napoléon (S/E).
