Departure from the Canal Park at a place called Fief des Maquins in Dompierre-sur-Mer.
(S/E) Cross the pine forest heading north-west (several paths possible) and cross the road to Dompierre (D111) just after the bend.
(1) Continue along the path opposite, between the railway line and the Vélodyssée cycle route. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead overlooking the Marans Canal to La Rochelle, which emerges from the Saint-Léonard tunnel at this point.
(2) At the first bridge over the canal, cross the road and follow it to the left for about 50 metres to rejoin the Vélodyssée cycle route, which you will follow to the right.
(3) After the second barrier, turn left, go along the stadium on Rue de la Mare, pass in front of Marc Chagall College and continue straight on to Rue du Lieutenant Botton. Turn right until you reach the traffic lights.
(4) Take Rue Georges Clémenceau opposite and turn right onto Rue des Fontaines, then take the second left onto Rue Arthur Rimbaud. At the end of the street, continue straight ahead on a dirt track.
(5) Go through a tunnel to cross the four-lane road (N11) and continue to the end of the path. Turn left (Gaz landmarks) and after about 900 metres, turn 90° to the left. At the crossroads, go straight ahead.
(6) Pass in front of the Moulin des Gandes and continue to the D107. Cross it and follow the Route du Fief Malzais towards Les Brandes. Pass in front of the equestrian centre.
(7) About 100 metres after the centre, in front of the electrical transformer, turn right and then immediately left. At the end, turn left onto Rue des Vergers, then right at the crossroads onto Rue de l'Air Marin.
(8) At the end, take a second tunnel to cross the N11 and take the first grassy path on the right to reach the carpool car park at Fief Saint-Benoît.
(9) At the D9 roundabout, head south towards Chagnolet. Enter the village and at the crossroads, after the roundabout, turn left onto Rue du Moulin, then take the second left onto Rue du Canal.
(10) Opposite No. 13 Rue du Canal, take a small grassy lane on the left, then turn right into the first lane that leads to the cul-de-sac Rue Chantegrive.
(11) At the end of the housing estate, turn left towards Rouberty, Rue du Grand Chemin. Pass the nursery and leave the Vélodyssée cycle route on your left. Reach the car park 200 metres away by crossing the woods or following the same road (S/E).
