Park at the church square in Montrol-Sénard.
(S/E) Leave the car park by taking the Route de la Coulée Verte to the left, heading north.
Turn right onto Rue du Cimetière. See the Hosanna Cross in the cemetery (see "During the hike" section). As you leave the cemetery, enjoy the beautiful view of the village.
(1) At the corner of the cemetery, turn right onto the path that runs along the south side of the cemetery and then crosses a wooded area. Follow it to the D204.
You can make a round trip to Pas de la Mule, about 250 m off the route, by taking the D204 on the right.
(2) Carefully follow the D204 to the left for about 100 metres and, when the road turns left, continue straight ahead on a path heading south.
Turn left onto the first shaded path towards Montmézerie.
(3) When you reach the D204, turn right and proceed carefully for about 150 metres. There is a fine example of architectural heritage on the left. Turn right onto a farm track lined with hedges and then trees. The track passes west of a small hill (Puy). At the crossroads, take the left-hand path downhill towards a small valley where an intermittent stream flows. The path then climbs gently back up towards the village of Peyrelade.
(4) When you reach the D204 road, turn right and walk alongside an old stone-walled farm. Follow the road for about sixty metres (narrow passage between two buildings). Admire the house and its modest farmyard on the right, another fine example of built heritage. Then turn right into a cul-de-sac that runs alongside barns and immediately left onto a stone-lined path.
The path descends towards a small valley where an intermittent stream flows.
(5) At the T-junction in the valley, take the path on the right which climbs up the other side of the gentle slope, passing a small pass between Les Combettes on the right to the north and Limaupuy on the left to the south. The path descends towards a pond fed by the Chabrette.
The path arrives at a farm track (T-junction). Turn right onto theGRP® des Monts de Blond. The path immediately turns into a road at the pond's dyke. Follow it and continue on the road towards the hamlet of Chantecoudert.
Pass in front of the hamlet of Chantecoudert and continue along the road heading west until you reach a crossroads at the northern entrance to the village of Montrocher.
(6) Turn left and then left again about thirty metres further on to cross Montrocher. See some fine examples of architectural heritage.
At the next crossroads in the village, take the right-hand lane called Montrocher Sud, bordered by a hedge on a slope on the right-hand side. After about 100 metres, leave the village by taking the path on the right.
The stony, downhill path heads west and eventually crosses an intermittent stream at the bottom of the valley just before joining the Puybras road
Turn sharply left and follow the road for about 60 metres before turning right onto a path that runs along the bottom of the valley towards the hamlet of La Loutre. When you reach it, the path gives way to a road that passes by old barns and a farm with a small, remarkable concrete courtyard.
(7) At the crossroads at the bottom of the hamlet, turn right onto a small road that descends towards the valley where the Marchadaine (intermittent) flows and climbs back up to the D675 at a place called Les Clédières.
(8) Cross the D675 road with caution and continue opposite on a farm track towards Salomon.
When you reach the road serving the hamlet, take the road on the right to drive through the hamlet with its many stone buildings. At the next crossroads, turn left to head north-west and leave the hamlet via a farm track.
(9) Further on, at the T-junction, take the right-hand path which crosses a seasonal stream before climbing into a fairly wooded area.
At the next crossroads, turn left at a right-angle bend in front of a long shed on a plot of land. The path then heads north.
(10) When you reach the road, turn right. Follow the Route de la Grogerie, which runs alongside a pond fed by the Ruisseau de la Puelle in a small wood on the left.
At the T-junction, turn left and follow the road towards the hamlet of Le Pic.
(11) When you reach Le Pic, where there are some fine examples of built heritage, at the point where the road seems to split, take the path on the right, which climbs slightly in front of an old renovated farmhouse. The uphill path passes on the west side of the Colline des Égaux.
Further on, the path descends towards the D675 road. During the descent, you will see a statue of the Virgin Mary on the hillside to the left in the middle of the woods.
(12) Carefully follow the D675 to the left for about eighty metres, using the grassy verge.
Turn right onto the road leading to La Ribière. After about 100 metres, turn left onto a dirt track. The shaded path descends into a small valley where a stream flows into two ponds located a little further north. Continue along the path which climbs back up towards the village of Montrol-Sénard.
When you reach the first houses, the path becomes a tarmac road called Chemin de la Ribière. At the junction with the D5A3, the Coulée Verte road, turn left. Follow it carefully and you will reach the church square after the junction with the D204. See the church (see "During the hike" section) and return to the car park (S/E).
