This walk starts from the car park at Rencurel town hall.
GR® red and white markings
(S/E) With your back to the town hall, turn left and stay on the left-hand pavement, passing in front of the hotel. Shortly after the descent to the hotel car park, take the narrow path on the left (signpost indicating Les Ailes – La Lauze). This well-marked and open path does not appear on the IGN map. At the end of the path, you will come to a secondary road: turn left and go up to the first crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto Chemin des Glénats. The tarmac quickly ends and continues as a grassy and stony path. The climb is steady and consistent.
End ofthe GR® - Yellow and greenPR® markings
(2) After passing the first house, turn right onto the road and, after about 40 metres, turn left onto the uphill path (signposted "ENS des Rimets – Les Combes"). This section, which is often covered by forest, ends with a private hunting reserve on the right.
(3) At the "Les Combes" signpost, descend to the right and stay on this main path. There are "Hunting Reserve" signs on both sides, encouraging you to stay on the path. After crossing the road, the path plunges under cover and gradually widens to lead to a tarmac road.
(4) At the road, turn right and then, at the four-way crossroads, turn left downhill. Ignore the path branching off to the right. At the junction with the road climbing up to Col du Romeyère, take the hairpin bend to the right onto Chemin de la Lauze. Follow this one-way road downhill.
(1) Continue straight ahead to return to the starting point at the Rencurel town hall (S/E).
When you arrive at Les Glénats, we recommend venturing a little further into the hamlet before continuing uphill: you'll find two beautiful lintels (see photos), as well as a superb lodge and even a geocache...
