Description of the walk

Depart near the pylon, taking care not to disturb the inhabitants of the hamlet.

(S/E) Take the path that descends towards the south-west, marked in yellow/green.

(1) When you reach the road, follow it uphill to the hamlet of Les Ailes.

(2) Turn left onto the path leading south towards Sous les Ailes.

(3) At the fork, continue downhill to the right, following theGRP® to a junction.

(4) Turn right towards La Goulandière. Walk along the remains of walls on your right, which indicate the presence of former gardens near the village. You will arrive at the Abri de la Goulandière, with its ruins and picnic tables.

(5) Pass in front of the shelter and, a few metres further on, on the right, cross the meadow, keeping your eyes on the part of the meadow set back into the woods, and rejoin the path that branches off to the right. You will arrive at a place called Les Antis.

(6) Continue, cross the Presles road and take the path opposite towards Le Chargeoir. Please note that the path is not very well marked between these two sections.

(7) At Le Chargeoir, take the road downhill towards Les Ailes and rejoin the path you took on the way there.

(2) Follow the same route back as on the way there.

(1) Leave the road and descend the path on the right, pass La Mûre, and continue uphill towards the pylon (S/E).

Snowshoe hike with over 40 cm of powder snow that fell the day before. The paths are not all easy to follow with all this snow, fallen trees to go around and no tracks. On the other hand, there is not a sound... To be repeated in another season.

very pleasant hike with beautiful passages through the woods and fairly easy trails. Beautiful view at La Goulandière.
As we didn't see or hear any forestry work, we continued on the normal route after the Goulandière shelter.
the only downside is that it would be a good idea to name the hamlet where the trail starts, especially for people who aren't from the area. And the "pylon" is a telephone relay station!
Apart from this detail, it's a beautiful walk that I would recommend.

We started off on what was undoubtedly a very pleasant walk, but we had to turn back shortly after setting off.

Signs indicate that the hiking trails on the circuit are closed for forestry work until around 15 August 2025.

We will do it in the autumn.

We set off from Rancurel itself, parking in the village, and we don't regret this part of the walk to the starting point. Well signposted.
Similarly, from La Goulandière, we went to the Belvédère du Ranc viewpoint. We recommend going there, as the view of the gorges is magnificent and the trail is easy to follow. We went back up to eat at the tables at La Goulandière (very little additional elevation gain).
Very pleasant and well-marked trails. We will return with other friends.

A very pleasant route, mostly shaded. Not always easy to follow at times (we did it backwards).
