The walk starts from the Allée du Val d'Or car park in Guyancourt
- Coming from Guyancourt, leave the D91 at the "Étangs de la Minière" sign and then turn right.
- Coming from Versailles, leave the D91 at the "Étangs de la Minière" sign and, before going under the archway, take the "D91 Versailles" road, which allows you to pass under the D. After the tunnel, turn right.
The car park is located after the Minière pumping station.
(S/E) After the barrier, immediately turn right onto the uphill bridle path. Ignore the first path on the left and continue to a T-junction with another bridle path. Follow this path to the left, ignoring the paths on the left and right.
(1) At the crossroads, keep right and continue east-northeast on the bridle path. At the intersection (elevation 155; tree marked "63"), turn right. At the barrier (equestrian centre opposite), turn left onto Chemin de la Butte aux Vaches. Go downhill, enjoy a beautiful view of the Bièvre valley, and reach a crossroads at the foot of the Oak of Louis XIV.
(2) Then turn left. Descend to the Étang de la Geneste. Take the dyke, walk along the pond on your left and pass the spillway.
(3) At the end of the dyke, follow theGR®22(red and white markings) to the right. Avoid the paths leading off to the left and after 200 m, take the left-hand uphill path, still on the GR®. After about 50 metres, at a fork, turn left (leaving theGR® to the right) and climb the steep slope. At a crossroads (yellow gas marker), go straight ahead towards the buildings.
(4) At the top, at the first buildings, turn left onto a bridle path and walk along a wall on your right. At the tree marked "64", continue straight ahead, ignoring a path that descends towards the pond, and continue along the wall. After a school on the right-hand side, the path turns left.
At the end of the remains of the wall, after a bench, at the tree marked "56", ignore the wide path on the left that descends towards the pond (unless you want to shorten the hike) and go straight ahead. Continuing on, the track approaches the D91 and then descends rapidly with two hairpin bends to a crossroads (signposted "Porte de la Minière" forest road).
(5) Follow the GR°°®° (red and white markings) to the right (north). Pass in front of a pond (descriptive sign) and go around a pumping station on the right. Take the tunnel under the D91 and arrive at the Étang du Val d'Or car park.
(6) Turn left and, at the roundabout, go under the archway to take the road towards "D 91 Versailles". Go through another tunnel under the D91. On the other side, follow the road to the right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).
