Description of the walk

Start from the station car park, near the cinema (opposite the station, the car park is on the left).

(S/E) Facing the cinema, turn right and walk for about 200m. Turn right again and take the underpass beneath the railway tracks (Passage du Docteur Schweitzer). At the exit, turn left and follow Rue du Docteur Schweitzer.

(1) Then take the second street on the left. Continue to the end of Rue du Docteur Schweitzer and head towards the banks of the Moselle. Go under the railway bridge.

(2) Just before the small river La Mance, where it flows into the Moselle, after the boules court, turn left and join the D6 road via the bridge crossing the river. Cross the road and take Chemin Saint-Vincent directly opposite for about 200m.

(3) Turn right onto Chemin de Vaux. Continue northwards and join Route du Bois la Dame at the entrance to the village.

(4) Follow this road to the left for about 500m, until you reach the junction with theGR®5.

(5) Take theGR®5to the left (red and white markings), and continue south then south-west to Chemin Haute Place.

(6) Leave theGR®5and head up to the right. At the fork that appears after about a hundred metres, turn left. Head west and reach the Les Cerisiers housing estate after a short, steep and stony descent.

(7) Turn left onto Rue des Varaines. At the bottom, turn left onto Rue Amédée Lasolgne. At the fork, follow Rue Jean Moulin to the left. At the end of the tarmac, continue along a small path to reach Rue de la Mine.

(8) Cross the road and continue straight ahead along Rue du Rucher. At the next junction, turn left into Rue de la Petite Mine (former iron mine).

(9) Continue along the path on the right (muddy in wet weather). Cross Rue Louis Blériot and continue to Chemin Saint-Vincent. Follow this path downhill and turn right for a good hundred metres.

(3) Follow the route taken on the way there in the opposite direction: continue straight on until you reach the bridge over the Mance

(2) Turn right and follow the Moselle.

(1) Turn right onto Rue du Docteur Schweitzer, then take the passage of the same name and you will find the car park on your left (S/E).

Super hike that I did with my daughter The only problem was the signposting, it was easy to get lost at calf level.

The path through the forest doesn't follow the trail, but we soon find our way again.

Beautiful view of the valley.
Just a small correction to the route: point 6 is in the wrong place. It should be about 700m further east. That’s where you leave the GR 5.

(1) Once you have emerged from the underpass beneath the railway line, you must turn left at the end of Rue Schweitzer and take the road on the left just before the dead-end sign to reach the banks of the Moselle.
