The Battle Beech (1870)

Park in the car park at the Salle du Longeau, Avenue des Champs (49.110315, 6.090910).

(S/E) Take the uphill path ‘Route de Guerre’ opposite the car park entrance and running parallel to Avenue des Champs. Follow this path, marked with white ‘Rabbit’ symbols and Yellow Circles as part of the Balades Nature route.
Cross Rue Saint-Paul Vignes, then Rue du Pré le Moine, and continue uphill.

(1) Turn right and follow the white-background ‘Rabbit’ and Yellow Circle markings. Stay on the Route de Guerre until you emerge from the woods, following these markings.

(2) Turn left and follow the white-background ‘Tree’ and yellow ‘White Circle’ signposting. Walk past the Moscou farm.

(3) Turn left and continue towards the woods. Pass Delphine’s farm and turn left onto the path at the edge of the woods, following the white-background ‘Tree’ signs with a purple circle.

(4) Hêtre des Batailles: Admire this tree which has survived the folly of mankind. Continue on your way and enter the woods, following the white-background ‘Tree’ and purple White Circle markings.

(5) Turn right and continue to follow the white-background ‘tree’ and purple ‘White Circle’ markings. Cross a small clearing.

(6) Follow the path downhill which runs alongside the “Jeanne d’Arc Fortified Complex” on your right. Further on, join a path on the right and arrive at a crossroads by an old transformer.

(7) Please note: there are no signposts here. Take the hairpin bend to the left and follow the “Groupe Fortifié Jeanne-d’Arc” path down towards “Rozérieulles”.

(8) Continue in this direction along the “Route du Fort” path until you reach the built-up area.

(9) Carry on straight ahead along Rue des Vignes, then Chemin de Banauvignes.

(10) At the end of this street, turn right onto Chemin de No. At the end of this, turn left onto Rue Jean Burger until you reach the car park (S/E).
