Description of the walk

Start at the end of Rue de la Paule. Parking available along the route.

(S/E) Continue along the grassy path that extends from the street. After about 50m, turn left at the cross to pass between the vineyards. After about 100 metres, turn left again to return to the road. Head up to the right to the Croix Rondo

(1) Continue left along the path which leads you to an orientation table.

::2: Continue along the stony path that climbs alongside the vineyards. Enjoy the view.

(3) After 1.3 km, at a bend lined with fir trees, take the narrow path leading off to the left. You will see the sign for “Dornot – Harmanfontaine”. Pass the bench and continue straight on. At the bend to the left, listen carefully for the sound of the fountain, which is just a few metres from the path. Perhaps you’ll find it? Continue along this historic path for 1.5 km to Dornot.

(4) Walk past the wash house, go up the street a few metres to the left and turn right onto Rue de la Paule to return to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely route through the vineyards, with beautiful views over the Moselle Valley.
Thank you for the walk. Best enjoyed at a temperature of 24°C.
Thank you very much.

Great, we loved this little route.
Thanks for sharing; I live nearby but didn’t know about it
We parked at the bottom of the village; it’s definitely easier (though it adds a few minutes and increases the climb!) to follow the historic path
It’s a shame the vines weren’t green yet, but the first part was lovely; the second is more of a ‘jungle’ – a narrow, stony path through the woods that isn’t very well maintained, but it has its charm, and at the end you come out onto the vineyards and the village
Don’t miss the left turn that heads down into the woods – there’s a small sign there, just before a fir tree and an open space.
Another option might be to turn back halfway along the route.
I highly recommend it!

The walk is very pleasant, but the westernmost path appears to be inaccessible. You should allow for a longer walk.

A pleasant and easy walk;
please note, the path becomes a bit unclear around the middle of the route.
Hikers are advised to park in the car park at the entrance to Dornot,
as the road through the village is narrow and there is little space to park at the start of the walk.

A simple and very pleasant walk. It starts in the vineyards, continues past allotments, takes you through the forest in the middle, and ends back amongst the vineyards (and black sheep). However, about halfway along the route, you need to turn off into the forest, and it’s not immediately obvious, so you need to keep your wits about you.
