In the Saint-Ours area from Beauloup

When you arrive in Beauloup via the D62c from the D62, park on one of the dirt areas at the side of the road at the entrance to the hamlet.

(S/E) Head towards the centre of the hamlet and pass the oven, the wash house and the circular fountain. Continue straight ahead on the street and pass La Ruche des Puys (eco-museum and shop). Ignore the street on the right at the fountain.

(1) Take the path on the left and, at the fork in the road, keep to the right.

(2) At the crossroads by a cross, turn left. Shortly afterwards, you will pass the Louchadière spring. A little further on, you will come to a road. Follow it to the right to reach the centre of Saint-Ours.

(3) At the intersection (the street on the right leads to the nearby church), turn left (red and white GR® markings), then turn right onto Rue de la Paix. At the stop sign, cross the road carefully and continue straight ahead onto Rue du Puy du Sau. Go straight ahead at the crossroads.

(4) At the end of the street, continue along the path that extends it.

(5) At the T-junction with a path, turn left.

(6) At the next intersection, turn right and stay on this path to reach the hamlet of Fougères. Continue to the pretty cross in the centre of the hamlet.

(7) Turn left just after the cross onto Route de Fontanas, which has very little traffic.

(8) Carefully cross the D943 and continue along the road opposite. You will reach the hamlet of Chausselle.

(9) At the intersection at the entrance to the hamlet, turn right and keep to the right, passing a wash house on your right and a lodge on your left. Cross the railway line and immediately turn left. The street becomes a path. Ignore the access to the D941 on your right and continue until you reach the hamlet of La Courteix.

(10) Continue left along the street that crosses the hamlet, passing a wheelwright's workshop on the left, then a fountain and a wash house on the right. Continue left and stay on this road. Cross the railway line and return to Beauloup, keeping to the right to reach the car park (S/E).

The Louchadière sub-basalt water catchment is a harmonious complex dating from 1953. An 1,800-metre gallery, dug in the 1950s, provides an average flow of around 200 m³/hour, with significant variations depending on seasonal rainfall.
