From the D943, between Volvic and Saint-Ours, take the D576 towards Beauregard and continue for about 600 metres to find a small hiker's car park.
(S/E) On the south side of the car park, take the gravel path that heads south-east, to the left of the road and parallel to it at the start, towards "Puy de Jumes" and "Sculpture" indicated on a yellow signpost. Go straight ahead at two intersections before arriving at a third, opposite Thierry Courtadon's sculpture "CHUT!".
(1) Turn left and continue straight ahead on this path. Pass the "Forêt de Beauregard" sign and continue between the fir and beech trees. At a fork, keep right (yellow sign).
(2) At the next fork, ignore the yellow-markedPR®® trail on the left and keep right, following the direction of "Puys de Jumes et de la Coquille" (yellow sign). Further on, ignore a path on the right, at a sign prohibiting mountain bikes.
Red and whiteGR®® markings
(3) At the next intersection, find theGR®®441and follow it to the right, also following the direction "Puy de Jumes" (yellow sign). The trail climbs quickly and arrives at the edge of the crater. Continue to the left to go around the crater.
(4) Pass a small yellow sign indicating an altitude of 1,161 metres at the summit of Puy de Jumes and continue along the trail. Further on, south of the crater, take a short detour along a trail that branches off to the right to reach a clear esplanade offering a beautiful view, then return to the marked trail, which has numerous steps. This descends, then climbs back up the slopes of Puy de la Coquille to reach the sign indicating the altitude of 1152 m at the summit of Puy de la Coquille.
(5) Continue along the path heading south. Further on, take another short detour along a path on the right to reach a promontory offering a beautiful view. Then rejoin the path, which descends steeply, with steps in the first section.
(6) At the first crossroads, continue left (GR®®) then, at the crossroads a few metres further on, at the marker at 1022 m, continue left again towards "Bois de Clermont".
Leave theGR®® trail
At the next intersection, leave theGR®® and follow the path that climbs straight up to Puy de Clermont. The path then descends and arrives at an intersection with theGR®®.
Red and whiteGR®® markings
Follow it to the left and you will immediately arrive at a crossroads opposite the "Forêt de Fontêtes" sign.
(7) Follow theGR®® markings by continuing to the right along the path.
Leave theGR®® markings
At the next crossroads, at the "Puy Chopine" signpost, ignore the sign for Puy des Gouttes on the left and continue straight ahead, leaving theGR®® markings. Leave the forest and arrive at a wide path marked with GR®® signs.
Red and whiteGR®® markings
(8) Follow it to the right and, at the fork 100 m further on, keep to theGR®® and the left. Continue along this path, ignoring all the paths branching off to the left, until you reach the hamlet of Beauregard, at the "Beauregard" signpost, a fountain and an old shepherd's caravan (on the right).
(9) Turn left, following theGR®®, and stay on this road to cross part of the hamlet (for a more detailed visit, leave the route and wander through the streets on the left). Pass to the right of a fountain, a wash house and a large cross, then turn right at the intersection onto a street that quickly becomes a path.
(10) At the next fork in the road, keep left. Further on, pass a stone cross, then a metal gate on the right.
Leave theGR®® trail
(11) Shortly afterwards, leave theGR®® and turn right onto a path through the woods, marked by the local "Gare au Loup" trail. This leads to a track.
(12) Follow it to the right and then, at the fork in the path 100 metres further on, keep left. You will come to the D576 and find the car park a few metres further on, on the left (S/E).
